The NSW Cup is a far better proposition than Reserve Grade imo. The difference is more than subtle when you consider
what the competition could be used for. Reserves are made up of players recovering from injury or misdemeanors or
just emergency men. These days we are swayed by 'if you're good enough you're old enough' so the NYC has done what
U/23's couldn't and leapfrog Reserves.
Florimo's wet dreaming about shoe-horning another sardine side into a national competition that should leave the NSW
bandaid strip behind would be better served by a full on shot at the NSW Cup. I've long been an advocate of creating an
NRL team from the Western Plains of NSW but a team made up of players from Groups 10 & 11 would also give the Cup a shake.
Countless numbers of players such as a future Jamie Lyon would come to the public's attention far quicker if a country
team was in a televised competition. Imo a Cup team would not have to be a feeder for an NRL team, although it has it's
advantages, if they were backed by an area that knew they deserved recognition as a League stronghold and had a point to prove.
Also, as has been mentioned before by others, what better way for an area to show it's wares if a potential position did become available
when the NRL decides hand feeding endangers survival of the fittest
