Who would've thought Anthony Quinn would survive so long in Melbourne, especially when most of us were
denigrating him at the end of his stint with Newcastle. Proven to have been as good value for moneyas a
second hand Hilux, this bloke just asks the coach what he can do for him realistically then goes out and does it.

If you want him to run down a sideline and concentrate on just putting the ball over the line he'll die trying.
If you need someone to switch to suicidal mode in the front line he'll step up. Do the same job as Matai,
but not in a cowardly way, and he's your man. Not too flash is Anthony, but loyalty and compassion shown
by him was returned by Bellamy when others would have thrown him on the scrapheap.

He may be superfluous to Melbourne's needs when room is now needed but he is taking something back to
the Knights that only he and Jeremy Smith have in common.

Quinn is a great depth signing, I feel that he will force his way on to the bench this season, good to see him back.

a real journeyman...not the greatest but like you said he will give it his best & generally won't disgrace himself or your team. Hope he gets a run off the bench for the Knights if only to reward him for his effort

Jeremy Smith may not have a whole lot left in the tank but his departure from Cronulla will have a negative effect greater than the positive effects of the arrival of Lewis, Heigington, Ryan, Gordon and whatever other hand-me-downs they have picked up. They - Cronulla - have a decidedly old look about them in the forwards and there is not a lot of fear factor in them. They got under a lot of guards last year with a great start and a lot of that was on the back of Smith's mongrel. That won't happen this year and everyone will be waiting for them. By the time we get into May, when the tough, cold days are with us and the weekly grind is taking it's toll, some of those old black, white and blue bones are going to be looking for a hole to crawl into.

He was a greater loss to Melbourne than Inglis was, many times more valuable than Gasnier, will be an abyss for the Sharks
and if he stays healthy a saviour for Bennett

If Melbourne keep going the way they are it's not difficult to imagine juniors won't be allowed to play for clubs
unless they started younger than 13. Come to think of it, that would kill the Dogs and imagine all the parents
forced to live in beautiful Manly by their children . . . not hard to take, but house prices would be sky high and
they might have to extend the boundaries.

We'd be doing alright. We seem to be producing more NRL players than many other clubs. Parra paid a small fortune for Hoppa, the Roosters seem to have a thing for recruiting from us and blokes like Menzies and Watmough have enjoyed pretty successful careers.

On the other hand, kids would be begging their parents to move away from the Parramatta region or at least drive them long distances to play in other comps.

If every club had no choice from here on in but sign players that had played inside their boundaries before
the age of 13 there would be few clubs that suffer dramatically. Parramatta, Penrith, Stillawarra, Newcastle,
Westain or any club with a huge, rich nursery would be the leaders.

If Melbourne had to replenish in future from Victoria that would test Bellamy. Manly, Roosters, Souths, NQ,
GC would definitely need a supercoach, hopefully the Dogs would be f**ked and it's up to the imagination with the rest.

Toyota Cup wise, Manly have produced probably the least amount of graduates.

Why would you want to see Spiderman when for nothing you can watch a f**kwit big mouth know nothing
coach train his players in a heatwave. Almost as much fun as watching a dog die when it's brain has been
cooked due to over exertion because it didn't know when enough was enough.

When a champion player goes to a champion coach but doesn't expect champion style training it's not hard
to make a chump of himself. Let's hope Champion realises the new coach of the only team he was a champion
with now expects the same as the team he went to to become a better champion.

Aboriginals were never the threat to Europeans that the Maori were because their mindset was not as confrontational,
the same reason they get walked over whilst no-one f**ks with the latter. Maybe Inglis and Thurston can instill a bit
of killer instinct into the best natural League players on the planet.

You've got no idea pops. Stick to your pathetic pretend league column and give your antiquated ideas about race to yourself.

Try 'Origin of the Maori Wars' by Keith Sinclair first published in 1957, which amongst others portrays the
difficulties the poms had in subduing indigenous NZ's. Nothing like the unwritten right of landholders west
of the Blue Mountains to spend a leisurely Saturday afternoon shooting Aborigines for sport. More recent
examples if you're into the culture like I am is the Mongrel Mob MC, amongst other black patch clubs in
NZ that are predominantly Maori and take shit from no-one. Only you madam can construe racism from
comparing a pacifist nation to a warlike nation.

Poor old popeye, wishes he was a columnist and a cuz.

You're a dead set simpleton. No wonder you've never risen higher in life than pleb and f**kstick. Pacifist nation

'comparing a pacifist nation to a warlike nation'. Only you could concoct such an antiquated stereotype.

Suppose 80 thousand years before we f**ked them in 200 is a bit antiquated. Doesn't seem to worry you that
you're the only one referring to me as a columnist. Takes more than plonking my arse in front of a keyboard
a few times a day and commenting on what I see and read off the top of my head to make me a columnist.

You'd do better to attack me as an opinionated reactionary who has no compassion for vitriolic f**kwits,
namely you, and has the temerity to think anyone would be interested in what he writes . . . I'll put my hand up for that
