Paul Vautin captain the Queensland side in the first game of the 1988 State of Origin series at the new Sydney Football Stadium, and the first game of the 1990 series at Olympic Park in Melbourne (the first Origin game in Australia played outside of Brisbane or Sydney). Wally Lewis was out with injury in both those games.

Shane Webcke captain the Queensland side in game 1 in 2004 after Darren Lockyer was out with injury, said he was happy when Darren Lockyer came back as he didn't want the extra responsibility.

Trent Barrett Captain the NSW side in game 3 in 2010 after Kurt Gidley was placed to the NSW bench.

Robbie Farah has filled in as captain in Game 2 2013, and Game 1 2015. Paul Gallan was injured for both games.

Some of those old school footy cards on the back had a one liner rather a bit of a blurb on the player.

That Bob Lindner Eels one (with a female companion) had something along the lines of "I'm glad she's on my side".

I have no idea how I remember it.

Remember Leed Lemonade?

Also - the back of this card it reads: "Tugger has a grin like the cat that swallowed the cream".

The Logos and names that never happened from the Gold Coast Gladiators and the Gold Coast Dolphins. The Redcliffe Dolphins and the TV show Gladiators objected to the use of the names and threaten to go to court.

Interesting tidbit on the Redcliffe Dolphins explanation, they suggested they wanted to retain their name in hopes of one day entering a club in the NRL and claimed on their website that the ARL had plans to bring them into the ARL comp if the South East Queensland Crushers had joined Superleague in 1997.

It wouldn't be a decent, interesting thread on LU without some roach ruining it with a whinge at some point.
