Mate, Gillmeister became even more well known as "The Axe" after one Bunny "The Axe" Reilly gave him some one on one tuition on the art of tackling. Made Gilly into an even better defender than he already was.

Yes, Mark Geyer admitted he hit some pretty low times during that period. It was also the reason Greg Alexander went to the Warriors, he wanted to get away from all of it. Phil Gould was asked about Greg Alexander retiring and suggested the tragedy probably stopped the Rugby League world seeing the best of Greg Alexander in terms of football, that probably would apply to Mark Geyer as well.
