Devils Food Gaytime ice creams.

Beats the hell out of Golden Gaytimes.

Back in the 60s and the early 70s Devondale had ice creams called Pink Pussy Cats, probably a bit like the Bulla raspberry splits are today but so much nicer, cannot find anything on line about them now, there was briefly a face book page with people who remembered them but that seems to have disappeared. There was also Choc Cats which were basically just chocolate coated vanilla ice cream, they were good but love the Pink Pussy Cat ice block/cream.

Hartee's hamburgers. Barbecued delicious burger franchise owned by Kellogg's until Macca's unfortunately bulldozed them into the ground.
One of their stores was allegedly caught using dog food . Whether it was true or not it really killed the company off.

I remember Hartee's having a stand at the Royal Easter Show.

Hey lads, does anyone remember when lifts would stay open a bit longer?

Now they want to close on you prematurely.

I’m over it.

If anything i think they stay open longer these days. You hit the button to close the doors and there is still a delay till they close.

Remember when department stores like David Jones had lift operators who would give you information like what goods and services were on each floor.

Could be a case of KFC's "a rat fell into a vat of frying chicken and became a piece of chicken itself".

Maybe an urban myth?

"First floor ladies lingerie, etc" which was in a Bugs Bunny cartoon in the late 60s.

It makes you think Horrie, how blessed we were to see proper TV shows. Dads Army, the Good Life, Yes Minister etc. The writing was incredible, the acting just as good.

No one has watched free-to-air tv around our place for decades.

Last thing I saw was the Women's World Rugby, weeks ago. The players did a lot of running and line breaks.

But who wants to see a yob crying about being dropped by some plastic boobed selfish idiot?

and Mother Makes Three was always one of my favourites with the delightful Wendy Craig, the British comedies were great.

I've read a couple of the Hartee's Sagas looking for an installment on the Riverwood store to no avail.

If the Riverwood store used dog food, it was top shelf premium. The burgers were delicious!

Was supposed to be the Canterbury store only, there hasn't been any suggestion that any other store used dog food, i only had Hartee's once and that was at the Royal Easter show and it was nice from what i remember.

They used Chum

So chumpy you could carve it.

Easy to cut into patties.

Probably still more nutritious than what the big guys sell today.

Dad used to say the styrofoam was better for your health than the mcburger inside.

#to the manor born.

Even though was older when these came out in the 90's, To The Manor Born, As Time Goes By and Keeping Up Appearances were absolutely priceless, no one could do comedy like the British.

To The Manor Born with Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles
As Time Goes By - Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer
Keeping Up Appearances- enough said, fantastic cast all round.
