remember hearing an amusing story about Big Kev. A mate was in the Cross one night heading out to the clubs and went to get some cash from an ATM, and who was using the ATM but the big man himself. My mate was already pretty merry and asked Kev what his plans were and he grinned at my mate and said “I’m off to find me a wife for the night!”

Bloody Whacka the Emu, that was
embarrassing back then, one of the few times i agreed with Rex Mossop.

?

People complain about senile old Rabs these days. From the replays I remember this turkey was 10x worse.

Does anyone know if Frank Hyde do much tv commentary or was he mostly a radio guy?

Frank Hydes tv commentary debut was the 1978 Amco Cup final, really not sure if he did much tv after that.

Rex was great, he was Rugby League but in his last few years he’d lost a few marbles sadly. Ricky Walpole (aka Walford) played awesome for the Dragons one night. Surely his team knew he was messing it up but I’m just as sure no-one had the balls to tell him... he called him Walpole all game..

But on that note, it reminded me of another memory.... the great Rox Messup... Rubbery Figures (Friday night news review). Used to love this stuff. From days when political satire was actually good. Then Rox would chime in..

I can't remember what year it was but Rex was commentating a game , I think it was at Belmore Oval, Rex was raving on and suddenly there dead silence, then it seemed like an eternity( probably was only 10-20 secs) then Graham Hughes took over the commentary, Rex had some sort of seizure or heart attack in the box( might have been something else but it was pretty major).

Why would anyone want to rip that off, or any of those yank wood duck talk show hosts. Only good one was Mick Malloy & Tony Martin.

Geez I forgot about that show. Didn’t it only last about 3 episodes before they got rid of it?

I absolutely loved the Late Show, and still love watching it to this day (got the DVD set - Champagne Edition).
