Will this include their final series?

I heard them mention today that they will also have a Top 8 this year

It's looking less and less likely that Melbourne will be getting any regular games (or any at all) for the next few years. Sorry guys. It's also starting to look doubtful that we're going to get any live games in other states.

Is it time to start counting down til Australia's TV rights are up for sale again?

Was looking forward to watching the Hull v Giants match on sunday night, as advertised on the Channel 9 website, when (shock horror) Channel 9 Perth decided to put on a crappy film instead. Seems as though they think that more people will watch B movies, Danoz direct, Guthy Renker etc

I'm a Pom so I don't get these things, but is this the way its going to be through the year? Is there any way that we can see channel 9 from other states if living in WA? WIN seemed to have it on in the papers TV guide but thats rural WA isn't it? Do I need to get Channel 9HD?

Aaaaaaaaagh

Welcome to Oz. Sadly here we're treated with contempt a lot of the time by the FTA networks. 9HD is usually the same as 9, and they don't seem to break away all that often.
Check your TV guides through the week, they may show it early in the morning through the week, but I doubt it. You most likely won't be able to get WIN if you're in Perth, aside from that you'll have to get someone to send you a copy of the game on DVD or resort to non-legal methods.

I think we are getting ripped off, they are only showing one game/week at the moment and no sign of live footy.

and the games are usually shown when there is an nrl game on fox, or the footy show is on 9 and super league on 9HD. i knew it would be too good to be true. at least fox had it on every thursday arvo without fail.

So how come there's no game on now? I know the TV Guide said it was on but 9 are showing some Z Grade Movie. WTF?

Funny thing is I just looked at the TV Guide ahead and is seems Good Friday we'll have a tripl header. The 2 NRL games then a UK Super League game

Sky are showing 4 matches here Live over Easter. One on the Thursday before Good Friday (Wigan v St Helens), two on Good Friday (Hull v Hull KR & Bradford v Leeds) and one on Easter Monday (Catalans v Wigan).

So it'll probably be Wigan v St Helens as part of that Good Friday triple header.

Further on Sky will are showing all 7 "Murrayfield Magic" weekend matches Live here on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of May so if Nine show all of them it'll be a lot of Rugby League viewing.

A further note Leeds v St Helens Challenge Cup is on Nine late Monday next week at half past midnight.

I would guess they held Harlequins v Hull back a week to show you this Sunday at 2pm because the Super League is on a Challenge Cup break this weekend and so they would have had nothing to show. The two cup games Live here are only televised by the BBC Sunday Afternoon which will be late Sunday over there.

Sadly you're wrong, Nine also has the Cup rights :(

The games might have been later last year, but at least we got to see almost all Sky games.

Two and a half years to go.....

No I know that but the cup games televised here are both on Sunday Afternoon and therefore after 2pm Sunday in Australia so thats why I guess they've held a game back. Just a guess mind.

Oh and the week before Sky here only showed 1 match because the second sky game (Celtic v Wakefield) was postponed at short notice due to the death of Leon Walker so I don't think your actually missing out.

Over the next 2 weeks, we've got:

12:30am 3/4 Wakefield vs Saints
2:00pm 5/4 Quinns vs Hull FC
12:10am 7/4 unknown vs unknown (Challenge Cup)
11:30pm 10/4 Wigan vs Saints
2:00pm 12/4 Bradford vs Leeds

I'd at least have hoped that both Cup games could be shown, not just one.

Just heard on radio that from 28th June the 2pm Sunday afternoon slot on FTA Ch 9 will have a soccer focused show. So looks like the ESL lead in to Sunday NRL may be short lived. I don't know if the new soccer show will take up the whole 2 hours from 2pm - 4pm or continue throughtout the NRL season but it is strange that they would put a show on like that when the A-League is out of season and the soccer WC isn't on til next year.

I thought the ESL was rating okay for Ch 9?
