Stats are stats. You haven't included number of runs, for which I believe he is in the top 10 in the entire comp.

Correct.

Most Hitups after 8 Rounds.
1. Sam Burgess (South Sydney) 164
2. Aiden Tolman (Canterbury-Bankstown) 137
3. Aaron Woods (Wests Tigers) 135
4. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Sydney Roosters) 129
4. Trent Merrin (St George Illawarra) 129
6. Daniel Vidot (Brisbane) 128
7. Greg Bird (Gold Coast) 127
8. Jesse Bromwich (Melbourne) 126
9. Dane Gagai (Newcastle) 124
10. Corey Parker (Brisbane) 118
10. Jacob Lillyman (Warriors) 118
10. James Graham (Canterbury-Bankstown) 118
13. David Taylor (Gold Coast) 116
13. Greg Inglis (South Sydney) 116
13. Jason Nightingale (St George Illawarra) 116
13. Sam Perrett (Canterbury-Bankstown) 116
17. James Tamou (North Queensland) 115
18. Billy Slater (Melbourne) 114
18. Ryan Hoffman (Melbourne) 114
20. Michael Gordon (Cronulla) 113

Dane Gagai has made 1,204m in 8 games this season at an average of 150.5m per game
If my maths is correct he averages 9.7m a run.

I agree he's being wasted taking these hitups. The forwards should punching holes up the middle and letting the outside backs doing their thing.

our forwards are shit so the backs have to do all the work?

Gagai, Leilua, jimmy mac are our top three for metres gained. Aku would be next if he hadn't got injured.

oh, and boyd refuses to do any work either.

Mullo not getting a lot of support from Gallen and Bird for 5/8 origin role. Both publicly supporting Maloney and if he's injured they would prefer to see J. Reynolds. Gallen in particular was a little harsh on Mullen sighting his inconsistency as a worry.

Ha. Spose we might get the chance to see soon enough. However, I think Maloney is a lock if he gets through the next few weeks.

Yep safe to say Mullen is now no chance. They won't pick him now that gallen has come out and said this. Now without Mullen playing I hope NSW get smashed.

Gallen is such a tosser.

I'll be much happier supporting QLD at both origin matches in Brisbane (yeah I'm so broke right now) without Mullo being there anyway.

Gallen is entitled to his opinion... but the fact is Mullen defended better in CvC than Reynolds (much better, and usually does)... kicked better and controlled the game better. Actually, he just did everything at a higher level.

If Mullo doesn't get a crack this year - he never, ever will... and may as well forget rep footy for good. Everyone in the NSW camp seems to have stamped him "do not pick".

If City didn't pull 3 tries out of their arse at the death I don't think anyone would even be having this conversation. If NSW wants a bloke that "tries hard" on their team over a guy with the talent and skill to provide opportunities and actually control the game for them, then it typifies why we've lost for the past 8 years. Would also explain the continued loyalty to Gids. Don't pick the most talented players - just the ones that try the hardest. Pfft. Hopeless.

Ah well f**k Origin. When you have those two singing the praises of Reynolds it's hopeless trying to even argue Mullen's case. Both Gallen and Bird are grubs so I'm not too surprised they want a fellow grub to play Origin; no f**king idea what class is considering neither of them have any.

Seems stupid for another player to be commenting on selections publicly to that extent anyway. Why should it matter what he thinks? He is not a selector. It's also obviously different to average joe having an opinion on who should be in the team. They should be doing their best to keep their opinion to themselves and focus on their own game; let the selectors focus on selecting (however poorly). It has that 'jobs for mates' stench about it rather than the preferable 'jobs for the best candidate'.

It's definitely a bit off to have the captain saying it... kind of forces the selectors hands a bit, really. If they pick Mullo now, what does Gall say to him when they get into camp?

Gallen's never short on opinions of other players. He said Benji's not wanted at the Sharks unless he's 100% committed to the team and not so committed to being a celeb and having a weekly spot on the Footy Show. Now, I have no problem with him saying that to Benji's face (which he said he has) but he's said it on 2KY this morning for everyone to hear. It's nice to be forthright but I'm not sure if he's paid to make those sort of comments re current players especially when he himself is still playing. Opinions.

As most have said it seems Mullen won't be picked. Absolutely gutted for him. Gallen's remarks on him being inconsistent are a couple of years outdated.
Hard too see how selectors make decisions when a majority of fans can want someone else, makes you wonder

Agreed, very unprofessional in the extreme. I would expect better from a Captain. It would appear from some comments that Mr Gallen is getting a little too big for his own shoes.:sarcasm:

Exactly ! Gallen is a tosser . He is showing everyone why he shouldn't be Captain.

Gallen should get on the park for the Sharks a bit more before he starts talking about inconsistency.

Yeah, that's really unprofessional by Gallen. I suppose it's okay to state what players he'd like to play with, but actually opening criticising another player (one I don't think Gal has even ever played with at any level) in the process is a bit of a dickhead move. He seems to think he has a lot of superiority for a bloke that's never won anything in his career.

Oh well, Mullo doesn't need Origin anyway. When NSW lose he'd just be made the scapegoat again. I just hope this doesn't deflate him too much and Bennett gets in his ear and makes sure he knows that him never getting picked certainly has nothing to do with his ability.

It's Paul Gallen. No one has as high an opinion of themselves as this bloke. No one plays for his stats and pats on the back as much as him either. It's like he has small man syndrome and has been trying to compensate for it his whole career. He will gladly get in the way and butcher his team's structure at crucial moments just so when they lose people say "well Gallen, he really tried to get involved when the game was on the line." Then he feels he has earned "respect". And now he has received enough back pats that he believes his own hype and that he is some god in NSW fighting the good fight.

The losers' champion, Paul Gallen.

Very fitting he will end his career without a premiership
