He must've only been on for a few minutes...just heard a little snippet in the news update where he was talking about wanting to work on us improving coming out of our own end.

It was on about 1.10pm on 2GB.

Notable comments,

He's signed for balance of 09, 10 and 11 with an option for 12, didn't say what the trigger was for that extension.

He was asked what he would change and only said that he'd like to tighten up our play coming out of our end.

Spoke highly of Trent Robinson, said the wrestling coach was rubbish (joking Pika).

Hadley bagged the under 20's (of course the code word is "smith") and to be fair Stone said they needed a lot of work.

He wanted to get the development program back on track.

He said the roster for 10 was essentially settled, maybe a couple of small contracts to go, not a lot of money left.

He spoke well for a first effort. Hadley wrapped him, so I can assume we'll get a better run from the media from now on.

Attention Burro,

Put together an email to club members introducing Rick Stone and let Rick in his own words outline his vision for the team over the next few years, much like a new CEO does.

They have a golden opportunity to re engage with the members and wider fans and energise the town towards them.

Nows the time to be proactive.

You're exactly right Nuff. Do us all a favour, email this comment to sburraston@newcastleknights.com.au

His first test will be the off season - and he couldn't have seen a bigger contrast in off seasons than at his time at the Knights.
Hagan always dished us up the same old sh*t after an off season - and Smith had every player working on their games and makeing obvious improvements, and also the team develops new tactics and plans over the off season.
I honestly thought Smith did all his best work in the off season, and i think Stone will be doing pretty good if he can have half as good an off season as Smith would have had.

Thanks guys...had a listen to Fred's link as well and I'm impressed with how he spoke as well. It was even better than some of the team announcements and other stuff he's done of late I reckon.

Smith has truned into a complete pea heart in my opinion. He runs from the media like a scared little boy. Ignoring the media doesn't make you a strong person. It just makes you a coward.

So Wayne Bennett is a coward?
Did I mention Bennett? No he isn't a coward and the reason is Bennett sees his contracts through. Smith is a serial contract breaker or walks before they are complete. After all his BS about seeing the season out he is gone and now the media can't get hold of him. Burro is left to do his usual routine of defending Smith's actions as being 'best for the club'. I just wish Brian would admit he has let us all down. He won't.
