Rumours are that NSWRL have changed thier recently made rule that the NSW coach cannot coach a NRL side the same time to accommodate sticky. And you wonder why NSW cannot win an origin series ?
Firstly, the eels - can you really afford to have your coach away for 6 weeks of the year ? Secondly, NSW - can you show a little leadership?

It becomes a double edged sword. On the one hand by being the origin coach he can attract and motivate players to play for him but on the other hand you miss out on him for a quarter of the season. If this is to happen you need to have a experienced assistant coach not just some mate of Stuart's.

Crazy. If I was John Fordham I would be advising him against it. It just cannot be done. Coaching the eels will take every last piece of sweat and passion out of him, I know it's unfinished business but ...let it go sticky or it will kill you. And note to NSW ... There are other coaches out there you know. And what happens to their next rule...boys we are bringing in a rule that you cannot do this and this - but we will probably change our mind.

What's the big deal? The head coach should be concentrating on the long-term strategy of the club, with the day-to-day running of the team the responsibility of the assistants.

If the team can't be without him for a couple of weeks he hasn't done a very good job preparing them throughout the season.

it was never a rule, it was a policy which has changed due to circumstance. the blues inner sanctum (fittler/barrett/johns/dymock/lazzo/blocker etc) has now established itself firmly enough were those blokes could run the stuff that bogged bellyache down in the past without sticky missing a beat.

I think if say Barrett and one other looked after a lot of other stuff and Ricky just stepped in and took over for team selection and for the camp and games it would work.
Sticky would then be 100% focused on the Eels apart from a few weeks mid season.
Those few weeks are a mix mash anyway and with 2 byes mixed in he would only miss 1 or maybe 2 at the most club games.

I would hope the club would take a hard stance and make sure Stuart has to give up the origin job. Especially if they're going to be paying the money that's being rumoured. Our club isn't in a position right now where they can afford to have the coach away for a such a long period in SOO camp and spending time doing a second job for the first three quarters of the season.

Or maybe by this time next we'll have signed the entire NSW origin team, and that way there'll be no doubling up on the coaching. just a change of jerseys.
