Disgrace comments about him by Jacquelin Magnay on the offsiders this morning on ABC.

Don't know how many of you guys watch it, as it is a bit of an AFL lovefest, but the negative comments she made about Jack were disgraceful, especially at this time.

Yes he may be old-school and didn't want to talk to you, now is not the time to be publicly complaining about it years later.

Oi.

RIP Jack.
I agree, she was completely out of line.

In a time when the Rugby League world is mourning one of the greatest coaches and rugby league minds that has ever been associated with the game, she took the opportunity to give him a spray because, according to her, "He didn't think there was the need for female involvement in the game" or some such sh*t.

Fair dinkum, leave your petty sh*t aside you dumb bitch and give credit where it is most definitely due.

The man is a f**king icon and you have the sh*ts because he didn't want to do an interview with you.

Plenty of pearls of wisdom from the supercoach sprinkled through out this thread. I've never stopped to think about it but as somebody mentioned, plenty may have been borrowed from elsewhere.

I used to have a book of quotes from either or both of Gibson and Bennett. Now would be a great time to re-read it.

But we all know the famous ones, what about those less known?

"Winning starts on Monday", the title of one of his books IIRC.

Who you buy isn't nearly as important as who you cut.

There are two types of players that are no good to you, those who can't do what you tell them and those who can't do anything else (think about it).

It all starts in the front office (or some variation of that).

Has anyone still got that book I mentioned?

RLW, The Mole: "People close to Jack Gibson are not happy about one of the biggest tributes to the late Supercoach in a weekend paper - because it was written by a reporter whom the great man despised. Such was the hatred between the pair that Gibson banned the hack for life after a series of bitter attacks on his methods during his long career. I'm sure Big Jack will be looking down from heaven's football field, bemused by the hypocrisy of it all".

So...

Paul Kent?
Ray Chesterton?
Andrew Webster?
Roy Masters?
Steve Mascord?
Paul Malone?

I remember a couple of years ago Chesteron wrote an article about Jack Gibson which was uncomplimentary about him and dealt his involvement as a doorman/bouncer in his younger days for Joe Taylor, who ran illegal gambling at the time, and then later on, when Gibson ran his own SP booky houses, before the TAB started.

I remember when Chesterton wrote the article, there was no reason for it that I knew of, which made it appear to be nothing more than a cheap shot by him.
