The only call I can remember similar was Sharks Raiders with the touchie flag.

The touchie got roasted from memory by the NRL. Cummins supposedly the best ref in the game seems to be getting much better treatment.
Yep, that was Rickey MacFarlane. I think he was actually trying to signal a forward pass but briefly put his flag up instead. He copped a three week suspension.

Cummins, on the other hand, well, he didn't even get a week off for this...

At the end of the day if they had of just stopped the game and said it’s roosters play the ball and allowed the defence to get set while they told the captains what happened i wouldn’t of cared even it technically the rules say something else but the way it unfolded just left a bad feeling about an otherwise great game. Both teams were very good it was high quality footy and tbh if bj passes the f**king ball who knows what unfolds after that so the raiders had their chances no doubt but that was some shoddy refereeing.

FFS Cronk got 10 in the bin for hardly anything
That was embarrassing
That’s not rugby league
That’s f**kin shit

Yet a ref call that was almost instantaneously corrected is the major talking point.
Did he even say 6 again??
Is there any audio of it?
He didn’t say it but he did signal it , If I where a deaf person I would have thought it would have been 6th again lol

Didn’t the Canberra player claim the ref said it?
He definitely said the words ‘6 again.’
I heard it in the comfort of my lounge room with channel 9 turning the volume of the refs mic above the crowd.
He asked ‘is that 6 again?’ while making the action ‘6 again’ action above his head.

The players had 80,000 screaming lunatics in full voice at a pivotal time of the game.

As a player I would take that as having 6 tackles up the sleeve.

I blame the refs
They broke the rules

Fair enough, and I really understand why you have that position

Unfortunately the position they got themselves in, they were going to break them either way. They had to make a judgment call in the momemt as to which option was the lesser of two evils.

I think they got that decision right

The real tragedy for the game is that the Roosters were good enough to take advantage

just to take an issue with this. There was no hesitation what so ever
The official did not make no call and seek advice

he was very clear and deliberate with signalling his decision. There was no hesitation, and confusion caused to the Raiders was a direct result of the official clearly signalling and verbally telling the team 6 again

again, there was no hesitation. The call was made and by rule, should not have been then reversed unless for foul play.

If the official felt he got the call incorrect, he should have stopped the game, informed both captains that a mutual infringement had occurred where play was impacted through no fault of either team, and just as the trainer situation in the first half, a scrum being awarded to the attacking team by territory

There was confusion if you listen to the recoding of what was said

I absolutely agree that he should have stopped the game and cleared up the confusion

Those extra few seconds could have let the Raiders breathe deep and collect themselves.

The Roosters should have been awarded the ball at that point.

1. That 10% is the only part that matters. Irrespective of what discussion the control ref is having with his assistants, the fact remains that he made a decision by signalling six again. He can't change his decision mid-play, and players should not be expected to continually watch referees to see if they've changed their mind after signalling their decision.

2. Yes, the mutual infringement rule is unfair, but that's the rule when play has been irregularly impacted. The Roosters already had the benefit of one unfair mutual infringement decision after using up their entire set of six, even though it was actually their 14th man that interfered with the play rather than it not being the fault of either team.

I get your points, I really do.
I agree with Nick that play should have been stopped and explanations made before restarting with a Roosters play the ball

The Raiders were awarded a penalty from a Raiders knock on, and they were awarded a Roosters drop out when an already tackled player was pushed back into his own end goal, so its not like they hadn't had their own slices of luck. The difference was the Roosters capitalised on their fortune, the Raiders didn't

That isn't the fault of the referees.
They do make mistakes and we have to live with them rather than whinging about them

You can feel free to quote me on that when I blow up when luck goes against the Roosters

Ha ...sin bin once a year maybe
Lucky to be a penalty

Funny ...when Papalli belts blokes without the ball all you raiders fans thinks it’s a good thing.

Lmao your brain must be as smooth as an egg if you think it was "lucky to be a penalty"

The nrl has pretty consistently sinbinned players for taking a player out in a try scoring situation. Cronk took Papalii early with the goal line completely open. Black and white sinbin

Haha take him out?
Papalli ran straight into Cronk at speed.
There was literally a split second in it.

That is not what the sin binning of a try scoring situation was meant for.

Penalty at best.

No thats not what happened. Bateman drew like 3 rooster defenders, opened up a gigantic hole and cronk slid across and came in early on papalii. You are either blind or have sub 80 rugby league iq.

The roosters are a smart side why would they ever have cronk in a situation where he is one on one with papalii ? Use that smooth brain of yours carch

Lmao imagine bragging that the nine commentary team agreed with you. f**king hell carch how embarrassing for you.

Andrew Johns argument was literally Papalii weighs more than Cronk. If those imbeciles are who you want to associate with then go for it

Haha
They all said it was a shit sin binning
Blokes that have more footy cred in their turds than you or me.

I’ll take their opinion over a butt hurt salty raiders fan.

He was yelling "is it 6 again?" while waving his arm. Given the noise in the stadium it's fair to assume that most Raiders players would take that as 6 again. They weren't standing around talking, they were trying to run a final play.
