That's a pretty average rant.
The 'there's been worse' angle is always weak. Just because there's been worse doesn't make yesterday acceptable.
Not really a rant, but whatever
I didn't day that it was acceptable. It was, quite obviously, bizarrely incompetent. But to the hysterical articles and pundits claiming it was the worst thing to ever happen in a big game, and there have been quite a few skating close to that, well it wasn't really.
The Nrl needs to look at how the 2 referees + video ref function together, and has needed to for a long time. But mindless hysteria doesn't solve anything.
And yes, we would give a shit if the Roosters got shafted...or I would. Because it's the ongoing incompetence of the referees that we always said could decide a GF, and gee they did their best to do so.
Referees have been buggering up in big games forever,
Even when they don't someone decides they were robbed anyway,
And how much people care is very dependent on who gets shafted
You're right, the refs didn't do those things...but they did f**k things up royally.
But apparently anyone who points out the clearly atrocious refereeing is a sook (even without a dog in the fight) so ignore all the above, lest we be seen as pissbabies.
The last comment was directed at those throwing vitriol at the roosters for the refs mistakes. If that's not you, then not a loser pissbaby.
No one (well, few) said the refs didn't f**k up. But there's a big difference between a weird f**k up and costing the game. The all-time f**k up left raiders defending a set with 90m on their side.
