But in that situation it wasn't just technicalties. The league and its teams was split in two.Hmmm , the SlL experience would suggest otherwise re fans giving up. My biggest concern is just how Independent is the IC going to be with clubs making ridiculous demands and threatening to take home their bat if they don't get their way. Most clubs can't even run themselves (hence why they have the begging bowl out for a $30mill shortfall) imagine the state of the game if they ran it!
In this situation, it would be the same colours, logos, clubs and players. Same standard of footy. Same 16 teams. Just run by a different mob.
If say tomorrow the 16 clubs have a press release giving the middle finger to the NRL, ARL and News, and announce a new competiton for 2012 headed by an independent commission, with all games split between channels 7/10/other pay tv company. But same rules, same teams, same format. Joe Public won't care. As long as there's 1st grade footy when March rolls around involving everyones favourite team.
