I think Nicho may be getting workers comp mixed up with personal Income Protection Insurance.
Players in the past would have found it hard to get IPI, but it seems that that view has now softened.

I really feel the players have been misinformed a bit in regards to how workers comp works.
They do not get hot whilst playing, but what they get during their times with clubs is probably a whole lot better. All medical expenses paid, including operations and recovery, all on full pay.
What happens if an injury finishes their career? If they had their own IPI and Health Insurance, that would help in those circumstances, just like it does for us 'normals'.

I blame Newton, he should be all over this in regards to the players.
