World Cup Warmup

England v Italy

The Italians made the most of being an unknown quantity in the first half, demonstrating excellent rugby league to go into the break leading 13-6. However in the second half, the fitness level and experience of the English wore the Italians down, as they scored 6 unanswered tries in the second half to take the match 42-13 in what would be seen as a great mode of preparation. Italy can take some positives coming out of this match in the fact that they held a lead over the number 3 side in international rugby league for 50 odd minutes, they just need to focus on maintaining a good level of intensity over 80 minutes.

England 42 ( Hall 3, Tomkins, Cudjoe, Ablett, O'Loughlin tries; Widdop 7/7)

Italy 13 ( Mantellato, Nasso tries; Mantellato 2/2; Laffranchi field goal)

Next up, Scotland vs PNG.

PNG v Scotland

Good display by the PNG side in what was an 18-6 win for them. Scotland were a little disappointing they a just a quality half combination plus 11 others. PNG may cause an upset or two in their group based on this win.

PNG 18 (Griffin, Parker, Bani tries; Thompson 3/3)

Scotland 6 (Wallace try and goal)

The next match will be the warm up between France and the United States.

Warm Up Match

France vs USA

France round off their World Cup preparation with a routine 37-12 warm up win over the United States. The US just couldn't keep up with the quality of a French team who demonstrate great chemistry with almost the entire team playing for Catalans. The USA did not silence their critics, and still remain under the label of World Cup whipping boys.

France 37 ( Raguin 3, Pelissier, Vaccari, Duport tries; Bosc 6/6, Barthau field goal)

USA 12 (McGoldrick, Junior Paulo tries; Joseph Paulo 2/2)

The final warm up will be NZ v Cook Islands, and then it will be time for the main event: the Rugby League World Cup!

That's a good idea, but seeing as I've already started, ill probably keep gig with this one.
I might do another one that is the day before, the scores are bound to be different, and ill do it with the actual lineups that the coaches name.

Keep up the good work, mate. Are you using RLSIM for this? Or some other formula?

RLSIM? What's that? Nah I'm using rugby league live 2 on ps3, that way I can watch the match as well, it gives pretty accurate results in my opinion after a little bit of tweaking.

RLWC Warm Up Match

New Zealand vs Cook Islands

New Zealand have shown why they are considered one of the favourites for the World Cup, defeating the Cook Islands 46-12 in what was a dominating display. A foursome of tries from Manu Vatuvei helped seal the win. The Cook Islands meanwhile will have to pick themselves up and look ahead to a group that they have a very good chance of progressing from.

New Zealand 46 (Vatuvei 4, Williams 2, Inu, Mannering tries; Johnson 6/6, Locke 1/2)

Cook Islands 12 (Low, Lulia tries; John 2/2)

Next up: the World Cup jerseys created on the game, excluding Australia, New Zealand and England

It's a sim you can use to run fantasy rugby league comps. Uses a database that can be edited and each side can be independently coached. Pretty cool.

RLWC Group A

England v Australia

England will be heartbroken after this match after they had it for the taking. A try from Sam Tomkins was the only points scored in a very tight opening half. English fans were going crazy as a try from Ryan Hall doubled the Poms lead. But Australia, never one to admit defeat, pushed on and eventually took the match 18-12, the winning try being scored by Billy Slater. A worthy opener to the most important tournament in international rugby league!

Australia 18 (Slater, Boyd, Gallen tries; Thurston 3/3)

England 12 (Tomkins, Hall tries; Widdop 2/2)

Man of the Match: Billy Slater

Next match: Wales vs Italy
