RLWC Intergroup Match

Wales vs Italy

The Welsh fans at Millenium Stadium hoping to see Wales open up their World Cup campaign with a win were left disappointed as The Dragons were on the end of a 30-6 shock thrashing by a rampant Italian side. The Italians were predicted to cause an upset or two in the World Cup, and they duly delivered, not allowing the Welsh any breathing room and putting them on the back foot from the get go. The Welsh team go into their next matches knowing that they have to win to keep their chances of progressing alive and also to keep their reputation, whereas the Italians are hoping to keep their good form into the rest of their group games.

Italy 30 (Nasso 2, Ciraldo, Falcone, Mantellato tries; Mantellato 5/5)

Wales 6 (Emmitt try; Seamark goal)

Man of the Match: Dom Nasso

Next match: France vs Papua New Guinea

France vs PNG

The Kumuls failed to capitalise on Frances only game not in France as they experienced an agonising 22-20 in a match that saw them lose their lead with only five minutes to go. France will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they probably will progress to the quarter finals, while PNG will have their work cut out to ensure their progression against star studded Samoa and defending champions New Zealand.

France 22 (Mounis, Pala, Baile, Barthau tries; Bosc 2/3, Mounis 1/1)

PNG 20 ( R.Martin 2, Griffin, Mead tries; Thompson 2/4)

Next Match: New Zealand vs Samoa

Yeah I thought the results are pretty accurate. It's the latest rugby league game on console. As for the song? Just some song the developers put on the game. The music is so good that I've turned it off on settings ;)

New Zealand vs Samoa

Samoa were pushed aside by a dominant Kiwis side as New Zealand picked up 31-0 shutout. Samoa started off fairly well, holding New Zealand scoreless for 20 minutes, but eventually the defence have way and then it was a thouroughfare, Foran adding the drop goal at the end to seal the victory. Good start by New Zealand, and certainly some positives for Samoa.

New Zealand 31 (Williams, Foran, Matulino, Locke, Vatuvei tries; Johnson 5/5, Foran field goal)

Samoa 0

Man of the Match: Kevin Locke

Next up is the crunch game between Fiji and Ireland.

Ireland vs Fiji

Fiji have all but sealed qualification for the quarter finals after their 28-18 win over Ireland. The Irish put up a fight and even lead 18-12 at one stage but the Fijian outside backs proved too quick for them. Ireland and Fiji now look to keep the score respectable against their mo illustrious opponents, Australia and England.

Fiji 28 (Uate 2, Millard, A.Sims, T.Sims tries; Sutton 4/5)

Ireland 18 (Blanch, Richards, Scott Grix tries; Scott Grix 3/3)

Next is Scotland vs Tonga

St George are rated higher than England in that game. Can't help thinking what you are doing is a massive waste of human effort but fair play to your dedication

As I said before, I think England are underrated on the game, and they proved that.

Although st George might be better than England, considering Italy beat them last night.

Scotland v Tonga

People at the match today would have thought Peter Wallace was crazy opting for a penalty goal to open the scoring in the match. He made Scotland look especially silly when Tonga scored twice to make it 12-2. Scotland pulled back to be down by four at half time. At the end of the match it was Peter Wallace's penalty goal that separated the two, Scotland triumphing 26-24. Disappointing for Tonga, as they need to win the rest of their matches and have results go their way to progress.

Scotland 26 (Hurst 2, Brough, Ferguson tries; Wallace 5/5)

Tonga 24 (Fisi'iahi, Taufua, Hurrell, S.Manu tries; Seluini 4/4)

Cook Islands v USA

Cook Islands opened their World Cup account and ended week 1 of the RLWC with an 18-0 shutout of the United States. America failed to mount any offensive play, and although their defence was good, the offence couldn't back that up.

Cook Islands 18 (Taripo, Gelling, Low tries; John 3/3)

USA 0

The second week of the World Cup will start off with France against New Zealand

RLWC Week 2

Group B

New Zealand vs France

New Zealand continued their dominating form, recording their second shutout of the World Cup, destroying a lacklustre French side 48-0, on the back of a superb hat trick by Sonny Bill Williams. The French will not mind this defeat too much, having already picked up a win over PNG which will probably mean they are through to the quarters. Meanwhile New Zealand send a message to their rivals that they came to play.

New Zealand 48 (Williams 3, Locke 2, Nightingale 2, Johnson tries; Johnson 8/8)

France 0

Did the sim with this 17, the score was 70-0, but taking away the intercept tries, of which there is too many in RLL2, the score was 58-0. So pretty accurate to the real life trial result.
