RLWC TV Rating Thread

Impressive figures. Any event which has a national peak of over 3 million is something that TV channels and advertiser's take note of (2.6m was Metro only, and we know that Regional had an average of almost 0.5m)

I'll be really keen to see today's ratings just to see what the appetite is for these other games.
Interesting - I didn’t realise the peak audience was only metro. That’s pretty crazy for it to have gotten over 3 million for its peak audience. Will be interested to see what the final gets.

Very interesting that the Fiji match almost outdrew the NZ one. Also again fox sports really f**ked up by not getting any coverage. So much content that would have rated well on fox.

More than the Bloodyslow. Again.

But down on what the Anzac test has always got. Which is why having no Roos games mid year will do untold damage to the game.

Rather than dumping the game, they should have turned it into a 3-game series...

The problem with the ANZAC test is the lack of narrative or build-up; its just a random exhibition match mid-season. Give it the same opportunity to build over 3 games that Origin and Bledislow get, and the series would be huge.

And it would give the NZ team a chance to build some structure and genuinely challenge the Aussies. If the 3 games were all played across NZ, RL might start to challenge RU as the nations major sport...

Wow!!! how bad are the Wallabies??? and the Rugby was on 10s main channel!!! Where the league was on 7mate.

From @MediaweekAUS on Twitter.

Sat TV #rugby #TEN #BARvAUS 97k

Sat TV #RLWC2017 #7mate #FIJvUSA 245k

As a sponsor where would I invest my money? Not on Rugby Union

1.4mill is a great result and would be one of the top sports international rating games of the year I'd have thought? The game so needs to realise how important test rugby league could be.

Club football has clearly peaked.

Rep Football has so much more potential for growth and it isnt limited to the whims of suburban club bosses.

I've often wondered this. Whoever negotiates the rugby TV deals must either have friends in high places or is a genius. How they convince the networks to pay anything for these matches is beyond me. They don't really have much bargaining power either, even bledisloe games rate bugger all.

Yesterdays games did provide 4 rugby league programs in the top 20 list fir Australia wide metro viewership. Very impressive. I now notice that my main channel is channel 7 mate. I woke up this morning and turned the tv on and it was on 7mate Never used to be? I do recall when being a youngster that channel 7 was my 'go to' channel when 7s Big League was on! And I also that Saturday football free to air is successful! Something the NRL haven't truelly appreciated or acted upon enough.

? The total figures do not have all capital cities included. Perth and Adelaide are not in the statistics used for the tv tonight total ratings figure.

they are on about 5 other providers of ratings , who cares if ONE ratings reporter doesn't include them
the tip being don't go to tv tonight for your ratings info

I might be wrong but I think these are pretty good ratings esp on a secondary channel. Doesn't incl regionals either.

yeh
over a million for the 3 games
very respectable numbers again .....

Maybe it’s unfair to compare the Wallabies game to the FIJvUSA game

Lets put the two Australian teams Head to Head

Kangaroo’s 1,402,000 on FTA TV

Wallabies 97,000 on FTA TV

Just Saying
You’re underselling it - peak Kangaroos audience was 2.6 million, in Metro and over 3 million when you add regionals

They are great audience figures for yesterday's matches, and if regionals are added are even better.

Not surprisingly that Fiji v USA did so well, it arguably had the best timeslot for NSW / Qld fans. NZ v Samoa unfortunately had to compete with the news.

I have never understood why this should matter. As far as I know everyone can get those channels.
