So looks like for France v Lebanon there are Bays they are selling direct to supporters of both sides which aren't available for General Public on-sale.

If you use the password 'Cedars' on Ticketek, you can buy into Bays 71 & 72 which aren't available for general on-sale. I believe there is a password going around for French supporters as well, as the RLWC & FFRXIII are doing a few different things with various French groups and publications like Le Courrier Australien, including running buses from Sydney down to the game.

The NRL media tells the very large national audience that tunes in to State of Origin each year that it is the pinnacle of the game unfortunately. When the game treats internationals with respect, so will the fans. The Kangaroos are one of the most historic national sporting teams in the country, they should be a national icon but the ARLC do not lift one finger to promote them and their rich history
How did the Kangaroos go from a national icon from the 1900s through to the 1960s and hey even into first half of the 1970s to what they are now ?

The Kangaroos were not a brand back in the 70's unless they were oversees. I don't recall thinking of the Australian League team as the Kangaroos when I went to watch them at the SCG. They were the Australian League team. Unfortunately by the 70's it was the general opinion that the best league was the NSW competition and even playing QLD was not considered a real challenge. In essence the state of the game outside the NSW comp was considered below par. Lack of real competition was the reason for the decline in value of international League. Sad but true. Other nations did not develop their game and we did. Even today we have first choice English and NZ players out her because they cannot get the level of competition they need to develop their game if they stay home.

I'm happy with flexible ticket pricing. It's something that should be done far more. Pay early, get your favoured seat. Pay late, maybe cheaper but risk missing out.
Sticking stubbornly to overpriced seats out of fairness is a great way to not sell tickets.

It doesn't work like that though, because most families who would consider going to the game would check the price at the time of their consideration. When they see the overpriced tickets and decide against going, they don't logon to the ticket website to check prices again. They've already decided they are not going and are unaware that tickets will drop in price, because they rarely ever do.

There is no "flexible" ticket system either. There is only "we f**ked up and overestimated the demand for tickets."

Agree. Calling it as it really is, is better! In aiming to boost the international game factors such as reasonable ticket prices for the opener should have been a priority. Tbh the marketing people have got this wrong! Don't like stating this however its correct. Today we are discussing tickets to be sold for the world cup opener? It's dissapointing and I'm sure the actual footy will be great as per usual!

What numbers are you talking? I’m not expecting an exact figure just curious.
I couldn't put exact figures on it if I wanted to but I reckon a few thousand will be flying over. The five week long tournament isn't helpful. Some will come over for the England games and then fly back home and some will arrive later and catch the end of the tournament. Very few will be here for the duration.

In the Sunday Telegraph, Robbie Farrah has bought 100 tickets and organised coaches for Lebanon fans.

Good stuff.

Canberras first game is a real mystery. I have no idea how many will attend. It could be anything from 5k to 15k.

I bought early and could have saved money buying later with some of the deals available.

From Twitter, and as East Coast Tiger has posted at the top of this page; 13,000 for Canberra would be pretty pretty good.

I’ll be barracking for a French victory, but a solid performance by Lebanon should help the proceeding two weeks in Sydney.

Will start watching Channel 7 more as of this week. Hopefully they will pump up the world cup as it will be a very entertaining tournament. I will note that the kids I teach at school are aware of the approaching world cup which is a good sign.

PNG holds 15,000. All RLWC 2017 media as stated as such, as did Brad Walter when I asked on Twitter.

I think that can draw a line through The Game Caller’s credibility.

NZ Update - a lot of the bays that had ‘sold out’ now have additional tickets on sale, which means perhaps we were overestimating how strong sales were for the NZ v Samoa game.

View attachment 16032 Not sure how true this is.....
There will probably also be 1000s outside.

This is huge for PNG. The teams will probably require the full motorcade treatment to get to the stadium. It will be insane.... a fun type of insane.

The players from the northern hemisphere who know very little about that part of the world are in for a real treat.

Might intimidate a few of them too.

Still has 1,800 tickets on sale in the main stand for PNG...acording to the RLWC tickets website
