RLWC2017 Crowd Watch

Again, like for the Opener, several Bays that had not been placed on sale now are for the NZ v Samoa match on the lower eastern side.

Like, I get it. Don’t put everything on sale, get the crowd concentrated in one area etc etc etc. But given last nights crowd, shouldn’t the strategy change?

Only 121 left for the PNG game.

Agree with you...it looks like they are so fixated on making it good for tv they are sacrificing having a larger crowd.

Example being they stated Cat B tickets were exhausted yet today they re open today the Cat B tickets. It looks like bugger all tickets for the east stand have been sold or available to be sold.

At the game last night, was a great spectacle plenty of ball movement. It was a shame to see a lot of emptiness behind the cameras. While not a disaster the crowd should have been better and they mucked up the pricing for sure. Will be interesting how the crowd in Canberra fares next week

so a friend has tried to buy tickets for Poms v Lebanon but whatever site she went to said "Sold out".

Of course, that isn't true (official RLWC site has plenty), but just shows there are people out there wanting tickets and being turned away, so to speak …

Probably viagogo.

And why would people not check the official sites first.

Why would you not buy through Ticketek?

People google and viagogo have been very aggressive with their Google advertising - they are the first result and make it sound like they are the official ticket seller. It's been a big issue this year especially for big concerts like Adele.

Yeah viagogo comes up first.

And it’s also very hard to find the tickets on the ticketek website. No games are on their front page and no games are listed in their sports section. When you do find it by doing a search it transfers you to the rlwc page which then transfers you back to ticketek when you go to buy the tickets. The whole set up seems bizarre.

Kind of sickened that they gouged the fans with such expensive tickets. And that they couldn't fill a stadium of only about 30,000. I blame the organisers.

Absolutely! I'd like to know what's happened to the marketing employee that recommended the $140 go up on game day ti $155! The dudes responsible are out of touch and should not be doing that job!

Where do these journalists keep coming up with these massive over predictions for crowds? I feel like this constantly happens in league where supposedly XX amount of tickets to be sold only for the crowd to end up way smaller.

No question about it. This game not being sold out is a total disaster from the organisers. The tickets were overpriced and the game simply wasn't marketed or promoted enough. Let's hope it doesn't put a dampener on the whole tournament.

Even the mechanics or path in buying a ticket was confusing for prospective purchasers! Simply amazing in this day and age!

Believe it when I see it...i still think going off the ticket tek site 10,000-14,400 been sold. Hard to see how many Cat C have been sold.

Assuming it's closer to 14K sold, then getting a 5K-8K walk up isn't unrealistic based upon previous matches in NZ and games involving Samoa...

Still not putting my neck out there after Game 1... Just don't understand the current strategy... Last night there was barely 300 seats left for sale in Auckland when we all know there are thousands of seats left...

Anyway, hopefully Auckland can beat Melbourne...
