It’s sickening to lose a home game to the f**king Broncos to start the seasonbut worst fears confirmed. We can’t keep playing the same style and expect to be up there with duds like Kenny and Garner. The Luai and Cleary combo also isn’t half as good without Koroisau’s service. Soni Luke at least showed promise and must be given more game time.

Sure we’ve been spoilt as Panther fans the last couple of years but that just makes watching inept and clunky attack and silly mistakes and penalties again (similar to pre 2020 Panthers) harder to watch.

Knowing almost anyone in the opposition team has the strength to run at the guy and get a quick ptb to generate momentum as long as they aren't tired doesn't make defence a non factor. If anything tackling and strong contact is more important in the rain.

You can compress the line and quick PTBs in the rain often end up with errors.

FFS...Api and Kiks are gone....move on guys. Yeah we lost by 1 point again. Give time to allow the team cohesion...its round 1

It's not the fact they are gone. It's the fact that we seem to have done some poor planning and preparation to mitigate those losses.

Sure we all knew they'd be huge losses, but all we heard from the endless cheering brigade was that Ivan is a master coach now, our club is the best, we have a production line of talent, there was nothing to worry about - lock in the three peat.

Well Reality has struck.

Gotta pick Hosking instead of Garner he'll at least run and tackle hard. Really like the look of him.

Again though he isn't going to offer much with the ball, Sides will still jam in on Luai and Tago because it is predictable

Unless our defence is shoulder to shoulder you can still run at Luke make most of your contact with him then hit the ground with the defenders around him barely tackling you. You can only compress like that for short periods when teams have no option but to run one out.

E.g Broncos compressed too much for too long because they thought we wouldn't spread it. We spread it early with an overlap and scored our first try.

Structuring your defence by bunching up the entire time enough to body guard someone completely would just end up in spreads like that on repeat. Soni has to tackle big boys himself to an extent. There's no getting around it.

I'm thinking make the best of a bad situation. Not many teams have a Kikau and still win premierships. Our best second rower besides Martin has to be not Garner so play them.

Ivan cleary needs to take a good hard look at himself.

Garner offered nothing absolutely stuff all..

Kenny killed the attack all night.

Critta was deadset pathetic. He played like a 150k player.

Nathan got out kicked by Reynolds very clearly. Very very avg kicking game tonight. Reynolds controlled the game beautifully.

Luai needs to run waaaay more.

We are going to need to change things.. it's not panic stations. It's just clear it's not gonna work the way things are...

I'm bemused how all the fans can see it all off season yet... we see garner plod and Kenny plod in attack all game.

Deadset, that was probably the most predictable performance ever from those two..

Kenny can start. Play the first 15 or 20 than come on and play the third prop middle forward. Luke needs to play most minutes. We were a different team with him out there.

Garner honestly is a bog avg nrl player. Sure he's a fg player but not a starter in a team that wants to win the Comp.

Ivan needs to bite the bullet and play Sorensen there or give mav or Peachy a go.

I honestly want to see changes next week.

I honestly think we win Tonight easliy if Ivan doesn't wait soo bloody long to bring on Luke and if we have mav or Peachy at 2nd row. At least they offer something with ball in hand.

Even play Martin on the left and salmon on the right ffs... anything is better than garner or hosking

Just switch Martin and garner, we have no one who will do what kikau did but martin should be on the left he’s much better than garner.

On paper yes and not much doubt you'll be up near the pointy end but there was nothing "leading pack" about any part of tonight's performance...

I get you can't replace Kikau, We have gone for only dour players

Our edge players in NSW Cup tonight

Mav 50 mins/Matt Stimson 30 mins ( Neither are fulltime)
Chris Smith 80 mins.

Neither of those options fix the holes, The club has been tight arses and it shows.

Hopefully we come good 2nd half of the season and atleast make the 8

put Martin on the left, best backrower goes on the best attacking side. Also someone needs to tell Dylan to dig into the line a bit more when he’s getting the ball on the attacking plays.

Our 1st try is exactly how we need to play, Come up with a few set plays for inside the 20's and hope that is enough

Dissapointing to lose by one point. Garner did he not come off with HIA? Kenny I thought was reasonable but agree Soni Luke did add spark as expected. Sutton the referee allowed Brisbane to lay continuously in the takle not unlike WCC game.

No..I've posted positive comments many times after your wins...it was just a viewpoint about now needing to re earn your dominance...which you well may.
Is that the limit of your insight into open forum commentary? I'm guessing you're a First date Austraia kind of guy
