Where did you get this idea? We have had to play backups because we've had players unavailable. None of them have been given responsibilities they can't handle.
Again, false. He was given three games to prove whether or not he could do it, then we brought Hands in. It was one of the earliest adjustments we made.
Where the f**k do you get these shit ideas from? Hopgood has played more 80 minute games (two of them) in the past month than he did in the first month (only played a full game against Melbourne). It depends how much defence he's had to do and whether or not we need him out there. He played 80 in the wins over Souths and the Cowboys. It's an option. It was an option in round one and it's an option still today. Nothing has changed.
The backups are as trustworthy as they have proven to be. That's a fact for every coach, not just Brad Arthur.
He has never played them for 60 minutes every week. Like with Hopgood, it depends on how much work they've had to do in defence (are they gassed) and whether we can afford to rest them (i.e. is the score close).
163 NRL games says he is.
He had no trouble finding another NRL backup gig.
He sticks to his guns, which is what you want from a coach. Knee jerk reactions won't get you into a grand final. They certainly won't get you 130 career wins.
He has already proven he knows what he's doing and when things need to change. He has persisted with players who dopey fans demanded to get rid of (e.g. Gutherson, Simonsson, Drown) and he has persisted with players who eventually overstayed their welcome (e.g. Norman, Edwards). Without the latter you don't get the former. Bellamy got to a grand final with Croft and then played him right up until round 22 the following year (they were leading the comp at the time) when he decided Papenhuyzen should start (shifting Hughes to the halves). The information required to make these decisions doesn't emerge straight away. Quite often the alternate options aren't demanding selection either.
But Arthur knows what he's doing, and he's known it long before we beat Souths three weeks ago (incidentally, besides Hopgood's 80 minutes that week, Paulo played 72 and Hodgson 54). Recent wins over a couple of dud sides doesn't really signal anything about what Brad Arthur's has learnt, that geniuses like yourself knew all along.
The topic hasn't changed. It is still your dumb footy fan logic. We lost to Manly a couple of months ago with Moses and Drown in the halves. Tonight we belted them. Go and buy yourself a subscription to the Telegraph ffs
He was standing next to the camera man..Interesting observation during BAs half time address. Reserve grade players in attendance.
Daze 18th man
Cini
Hodgson
Rankin.
I think the JF coach may have been there as well.
No sign of Cayless.
Is he still in charge of the 2s?
Gotta get him some dummy half training and middle defence and play him in the 14.I really liked Arsey's game, his kicking game put a lot of pressure on Manly, particularly in the first half and they fumbled
he'll do me for a backup half
Agreed. At full strength he’d be my 14.Gotta get him some dummy half training and middle defence and play him in the 14.
He won't stay at 6 at reggies. He'll probably leave.
We did ok but the team we played were worse than the Dogs last week.
I don't get the accolades for the halves bc at the ground we were very average without Gutho.
I think there are some people who must be crediting the halves for what Gutho did, because what we saw at the ground was a lot of clunk and lateral nothingness. Tackle 5 plays were mostly clunk as well.
We were blessed we did not play say the Warriors this week ir any other team origin unaffected or showing some sort of form.
Dolphins next Sat after a short turnaround for Mitchy and Jnr. Laney Hodgo back ?
BTW it was nice to see the 40 year premiership lads get introduced to the crowd. When the lights went dim, the old boys formed a guard of honor, but not Sterlo. He walked over to Laney and Hodgo and Baz and shook their hands and had a chat for a few mins, before a PR girl realised he was not in line and chased him away.
Manly were f**ken terrible.
@hineyrulz could have played for them after having 12 Krakens and still would have got players player.
On the Sunday footy show, they said there are very few halves in the game.Agreed. At full strength he’d be my 14.
Watching them play, I don't think anyone's in charge of that mob...No sign of Cayless.

Good to hear, it would have been silly fan behaviour if true.
If anything, those minded people should have been cheering that Jake had an opportunity elsewhere from the Eels.
#takeSimoOffTheShitList
Find another random orthodox holiday if thats what it takes.
He was shit on the wing, but he has played great at centre. Even late last year he finished the season well at centre. Our wingers havent been strong rucking it back, but Simo and Penisini have stepped up massively to fill the void. Simo is taking 20 odd runs a game.
Our Defence is a lot stronger when Paulo isn't out there. How good was that?
no Moses no Paulo no problem
