I don't recall Pou ever saying we should be happy to lose Junior but rather that we shouldn't pay overs for him which Ricky seems happy to be doing if some of the numbers quoted are accurate.

And all Pou has done is quote stats that highlight why Jnr is yet to prove he is the elite player that Ricky is paying for.

You guys that hate on Pou so much really try hard don't you...

I talked down Jnrs games last week-He was $hit.
This week he was excellent. If you pay a player over 450k a year you want excellent games mixed with good games. You do not want many average or below average games.
It was like Watmough -He played average and good. For what he was paid never excellent and far to many average games!

Jnr is a loss in the fact that guys like - Mannah-Alvaro-Wicks-terepo are replaceable a lot easier.
Guys like JNR do not come along often. And when they do good things they stand out.
As far as the 750k goes i personally doubt it. I could understand canberra giving him 550k. Doubt even tamololo-Scott-JWH are on that.Even Klemmer who is a better prop signed for around 600k by reports and he has played origin .

If we wanted to keep Jnr we should of signed him up to a longer term deal mid last year. We knew his talent and what he could become. Should of been given a 4 yr deal before other clubs come sniffing-And before everyone says he wanted to test the market i dont buy it.
As ive said before guys like carwright-RGC at penrith where signed up to long deal very early in first grade careers. We need to do the same.(like we did with tepai)

He's 22 Pou , and he manhandled the two test front rowers and yet you still try to find fault in his game to win an Internet argument lol. Last week wasn't his best game but how did you know he didn't have the decision of leaving his boyhood club on his mind???

You stats wankers are all the same, Mannah going by stats is the better player but when you actually watch a game without worrying about stats you will know that is absolutely laughable.

Mate he started to pick apart his game before he had even confirrned he was going, would have been funny how he would have turned it around if the club managed to keep him. He would have been the best thing since sliced bread.

Plus stats in RL are massively overrated.

Would it better for Scott / Moeroa to swap. Moeroa is better attacking on the edge, while a mad merrin like Scott would do more damage defensively in the middle

I don't think swapping will do much.
I think he needs to come off the bench for a while, and come on while the opposition forwards are starting to tire. I think the first 15 of a match is taking it out of him, I don't think he is up for it just yet.

We made guys like Tep, Wicks and Peni a bigger priority then him. The club thought he would be happy to stay because he was a local junior and we got burned. Ricky knows how good he is he did give him his debut.

How do you know that?

You are making shit up to suit your argument! Maybe we retained all of them because we knew Junior was going to accept the higher offer all along?

Just because we didn't match the higher offer doesn't mean we didn't try. Shit just happens.

Do you think Manly were happy to lose their premiership winning 5/8th to us? What about Roosters losing their premiership 5/8th?

You don't have to hate on the club for every single thing that you don't like.

Why wouldn't they want to test the market? Especially if they were receiving expressions of interest from other clubs. Not many players (probably zero) re-sign with more than a year to run on their current deal. Why would the player give away his bargaining power?

We did it with Paulo as well. His current contract was for three years. Would he have agreed to four? I doubt a young player would keep himself out of the market for that long, especially with the cap continually going up. He's only signed with Canberra for two.

Which stats say Mannah is a better player? There are a lot of stats and they need to be looked at holistically. Neither the stats nor myself say Mannah is a better player; just that he is better in some areas and more consistent. It's a lot easier to decide on a value for a consistent player like Mannah, and therefore less risk of overpaying him.

As you say, last week wasn't Paulo's best game, but this probably was. And now all of a sudden you're crowing like a point has been proven? Maybe when he plays like that most weeks you can say we should have matched Canberra's offer. Until then you're still wrong, and Canberra are paying too much.

I'm well aware of the weaknesses of nearly every player in our roster and others. Most players have them, and they often say more about a player than his strengths, which are usually more obvious.

But until people want to death ride the club for not re-signing a player at any cost  then I generally don't bother talking about a player's negatives. And when I do, it doesn't become an emotional issue like you seem to have made this.

Plus stats in RL are massively overrated.

Yeah that's why every coach uses them.

Exactly ... i cant stand it when people say X Y and Z were priorities because they did actually sign a deal.

We have absolutely no idea what goes in with negotiations. Do we sit back and sign absolutely no one waiting for one guy/manager to make up his mind? Would it be far better to end up with nothing? Do we only proceed with others once the other guy is gone?

Bottom line is we dont know jack shit ... but sitting back and criticising is soooo f**kin easy

No, they all just came off contract earlier.

Ricky knows how good he is he did give him his debut.

Ricky hasn't coached him for over two years. I'd say the current coach has a better idea of the player's strengths and weaknesses.

I agree he should be the priority. That's what the Paulo (and Peats) decisions come down to - which one do we want to pay overs for? I vote for Corey Norman.

I don't think peats is a priority for me at this moment. Dirst, then a fb then a prop

Hopefully someone like tanginoa steps up and takes the role of teps..

Ive got a feeling it's teps whose replacing jnr

I was impressed by Teps last night, did a lot of little things right, like chasing the ball on the ground, showed real desire.
