1. We underestimated the dragons simple. If we played them this week it would be a different story.

2. BA still hasn't got all the bs out of our game, like players looking at the ref for a penalty rather than a quick play the ball, fergo sticking his arm over the sideline. Bellamy wouldn't stand for this shit.
3. We seem to push the pass in the wrong situation, panic passing. That hasn't been rectified in training.

How many teams have the pack to go through us?? The Storm, Roosters, Penrith and probably Canberra. I wouldn’t of though Saints did until Sunday night. But they did, winding up with a winning record in this competition is hardly anything to get excited about. The comp gets weaker every year but somehow we are going to find another 30 players for another side. And it’s amazing that the game plan go softly, go around the edges and be lazy in defence happens quite a bit, especially when another side puts it on us..........

I don’t think the dragons pack went through us, they just wanted it more and played with more energy. In addition we made to many errors. And when we got on top in the second half our spine didn’t take control / played to “frantic”.

it was a overall shit / disappointing performance. Moses / Paulo were disappointing as senior players.

Stats also don’t indicate the dragons went through us either. We made more metres from less runs 1726m from 180 runs and that made 1651 m from 198 runs.

We made 5 Lb to 4. We even missed less tackles.

It was a game our halves / spine should have got us the win, but they f**ked up.

Dragons weren’t as good as some make out, we made them look good.

The Broncos had us down 16 nil, The Tigers came back and could have easily won it, the Sharks had to play more than half a game with one or no reserves, and although we did well against the Storm, they came very close to scoring on at least 3 occasions.

We aren't a top 4 club based the first quarter

1. yep agree

2. plenty of players do stupid shit from other sides. Even Storm has the same issue, watch our game and Kaufusi on Matterson, you don’t think that’s BS?

3. decision making is poor as our half/Spine isn’t elite. Look at the storm this year, they are struggling at times as they no longer have Smith to lead / make the correct decision. Storm have lost to both us / panthers this year in games they win last year with Smith. Rooster will have the same problem to now. It’s why halves are so expensive

I don’t disagree we aren’t playing Iike a top 4 side just yet.

It’s a long season and its not until the final third of the season you need to find form.

The great Warren Ryan had a theory for the season. 1st third, start strong get as many ugly wins as possible. 2nd third hang in there stay around top 8, keep fresh. Final third come home strong.....

The fact we won those games and plenty of them over the last few seasons shows we are better then average (the bottom sides lose them that’s while they are bottom) - meaning a top 6 or so side....do that every season anything is possible..

I reckon we are playing a little to carefull.
Look back in 2019 the amount of times Gutherson would pass to Sivo on a kick reception compared to 2020 and 21. But come finals we did put the throttle down a little more.

Don't know why it's taboo to say, the dragons fell asleep in the ruck and the ref allowed them to do it. Doesn't matter how many metres you make or allow, if you don't get a quick play the ball you'll find it hard to attack around the ruck.

What I put squarely on BAs shoulders, and I realise we are trying to be the cleanskins, when the ref simply isn’t calling the opposition up on shit then we need to recognise that and do it back (I wouldn’t trust Atkins to not flip the script and just penalise us). Just because you want to be a cleanskin doesn’t mean if the ref is allowing a skinny 10m, you politely decline.

Started watching a replay this morning. In a normal game (one without Atkins or Perenara) does anyone else think the Ravalawa tackle on Gutho would’ve been penalised/successfully challenged? I mean we got penalised for our successful challenge, even though if the play was correctly called in action, it would’ve been called back for Cartwright to play the ball (off initial rant - how many times a week is there held called and then there’s a pass, so the ref calls it back and makes them play the ball? Like FFS one rule how difficult is it to enforce unilaterally?). Surely Gutho was put in a dangerous position by the letter of the law.

interestingly I want past dragons training yesterday and they were practicing wrestling in the play the ball, with 2 defenders hold on for several seconds.......

however I am sure all sides do similar training......

Didn’t you say yesterday we play at one pace all season long?
FMD it was the reason me and iFreek had a tiff! You should apologise!

But seriously I said it back at halftime round 1, I wonder if Skeletor’s comments last year got to BA and that we’ve started this season a little under done. It’s fine if you can build back up at end of season whilst still putting together enough wins to make finals, but it carries many obvious risks

You could be on to something... I don't recall one player quoted over summer saying it was "toughest pre-season ever"....

f**k you’re right! Although TCT did report it, but perhaps their idea of athletic toughness is a bit off

They made a mockery of the 6 again rule. If merkins keep doing it there should be greater penalties.

Making a call on an entire season on the basis of one game in April is either very brave or very foolhardy.

I think he is basing it on our historically pathetic and annoying yoyo performances. But yeah sure why not bag someone again for a very shallow interpretation of their comments.

It is what you do after all.

i thought the same until last sunday we used to be patient and tenacious but as soon as the dragons got in our face out came the miracle balls, the dumb plays, the panicked catch up footy it was like going back in time ten years
I saw it as a failure of our leadership group (Gutherson, Moses, Paulo, Nrown). But a team needs leaders and followers, and we have at least one very experienced player in our team who is neither, and that isn't good for a team under pressure.

Yawn.

He specifically mentioned that one particular game and suggested that the result would determine whether we make up the numbers. Your interpretation of both his and my comments are off the mark on this occasion.

Anyway, we agreed afterwards that it was a big test. But agreed to disagree over whether the result would determine whether we make up the numbers.

FFS can you two get a room? No one wants to hear you argue!

The ref called 16 against them in the trial we played. I remember there being a few comments saying they hope the refs in the proper season aren't as "trigger happy". But if a team is breaking the rules, they deserve to be punished for it
True. Sometimes though, giving multiple repeat sets might not be enough of a disincentive. Merkins should be binned.
