Unfortunately he is not in the top 20 7s in a 16 team comp, and tonight confirmed he is spectaculalry useless.

We looked sharper when Mitchell was on the field, why was MK put back on, that really stifled the attack

Either he's playing a poker face, or Robson's not too keen to stay and be a 9 or 14 next season. I guess we can only keep one of Maguire or Robson, if Mortimer stays out his contract with Wenty.

Robson unlikely to remain with Eels

Parramatta halfback Jeff Robson admits it's unlikely he will be an Eels player next season and revealed a decision will be made on his future "very shortly".
The 27-year-old has been offered a new deal by Parramatta, but with Chris Sandow and Ben Roberts joining the club for 2012 and Daniel Mortimer still under contract for another year, Robson is looking elsewhere, with Cronulla and South Sydney both interested in his services.
Eels coach Stephen Kearney admitted on Friday there would be players shown the door at the end of the year, but he would prefer to keep the versatile Robson, who can play halfback, hooker and five-eighth.
However, the former Manly playmaker was lukewarm when asked about the prospect of re-signing with Parramatta.
"I am just letting my manager have a look at what is out there, so I can focus on my footy, it is nice to have a few clubs interested in signing me, and we'll decide what to do very soon," Robson told AAP.
"I've had a few offers here and there, but nothing is clear at the moment but it is still early days, but I am confident we will be making a decision very shortly."
Robson also said contact had been made by two English Super League clubs and refused to rule out a move to Europe.
"Ideally I would prefer to stay in the NRL if I could, I've had a bit of interest from over there and I would consider it, but I just need to weigh a few things up but it is nice to have a few options."
Robson rued Parramatta's inability to retain the ball in Saturday's dour 8-6 defeat by Newcastle and said the team need to start improving quickly to stop their season ending early for a second successive season.
"We dropped a lot of ball early on and put ourselves under pressure, it was wet out there and the ball was slippery, but you have to complete your sets and we didn't do that," he said.
"We have a lot of improvement to do, last week against Cronulla was good, but we have to just get back to playing that grinding style of footy, completing sets and kicking long for the corners and hopefully we can turn it around next week."

It really depends on what he's being offered. Not's not 27 he's nearly 29 and if re-signed it's going to be on a year to year basis at this stage of his career.

I wish all the best to the bloke, but if the club have offered him a basic minimum wage deal I think that's more than fair. On the same token you cannot blame the guy for seeking a better deal elsewhere if that's the case.

You're right. Just because a bloke got a try assist doesn't mean he set up a try.

And just because a bloke has 43 tackles against his name doesn`t mean he actually made 43 tackles. I`m sure you know what I`m talking about.
'Meters gained' doesn`t mean a whole lot either. A dashing winger who`s put through a yawning gap in broken play could make 80 meters on that run, but be totally ineffective in all his other kick returns, etc; yet he will end up with a very good 'meters gained' stat. Stats lie, buddy. They tell you some information but, in isolation, it often means very little.
A very clever cut-out pass from a talented half-back like Thurston which results in a try, appears the same in the stats as a Daniel Mortimer close to the line who looks up and sees a Justin Horo racing forward calling for the ball and just hands it to him. Stats lie.

lol @ "combo"

How about the Loko-Walker centre combo? Old Chris Walker is giving young Jacob some quality ball out in the centres isn't he?

That`s only because you don`t understand the nature of half/five-eight play, and you think they work in total isolation on seperate sides of the field. And yet you have (rightly) stated elsewhere that all aspects of the game effect all other aspects. So go figure.

That's why we consider stats over more than just one game.

Thurston's the best, not because he got 1 LBA on the weekend (Kris Keating got 2), but because he has 20 for the season (Keating has 4).

You can say stats lie all you want because you're a person who makes statements with zero proof, but the fact is that over a decent period of time stats tell a clear story.

Do you think it's any coincidence that after 12 rounds, Thurston is the clear leader in LBA, with Hayne and Marshall in a relatively distant second and third place?

Nice try throwing the 'metres gained' stat out there. It's not a stat I put much stock in, other than for front-rowers. But even over the course of a season (and especially over several seasons), if an outside back is making loads of metres but not many linebreaks then it tells you he either offers great go-forward or he's got very good support play. And you can generally work that out by looking at his number of carries.

See? I never said stats should be read in isolation - that's a strawman you put together.

Stats only lie when you're an idiot who doesn't know what they represent. When you combine stats they obviously tell some pretty clear stories. In the industry we call that 'analysis'.

I don't know about you, but I would never look at the metres gained statistics and judge backs based on it. Metres gained is primarily used to gauge forwards, and it usually gives a fair indication of the battle of the ruck when taking into account number of hit-ups, too.

Mate, I played in the halves, and this was back when we only played on both sides of the field.

What I know about split halves I've learnt fairly recently (past 4-5 years) through observation.

For the record I think it's a great idea and I don't know why nobody thought of it sooner. I always thought one of the biggest issues with setting up a traditional backline (even after splitting the centres, so obviously not that traditional) was that it telegraphed your plans to the opposition.

You see the Tigers constantly dealing with this as they try to keep Benji in a wider position without making him a target.

There are a few teams that still aim to get their five-eighth involved at second receiver (this is why most halfbacks play on the right with the 6 on the left) but it's usually only inside the opposition 20.

However, Bellamy 'won' a premiership with Inglis at 6 but still moved him to centre so they could accomodate Brett Finch (a halfback) in the 6 jersey.

Also the Tigers try to set Benji up wide every time they get possession (they play away from him on early tackles) but he still gets most of his touches at first receiver.

And yet you have (rightly) stated elsewhere that all aspects of the game effect all other aspects. So go figure.

Yeah fancy that.
