Robert Lui to Fullback

I only suggested he plays fullback while we are DEEFENDING not the whole F---ing game if he can't catch a bomb, clean up a grubber,or other kicks he shouldn't be playing first grade, get him out of the defensive line after we have kicked downfield, pretty simple to me.Everybody drops bombs, fails to clean up grubber kicks, but if you want a repeat performance of being a turnstile so be it, it was no coincidence Canberra targeted Lui in defence and if croker would have kicked the penalty we would be recovering from Mad Monday and 2010 would be a memory.

lol, some players that specialise in either of the back three positions aren't entirely safe at the back. Imagine a guy who never trains back there in that position. It's all over

I think Lui has answered his critics in regards to his D. With some more help from Folkesy, this guy will be as good as gold. He is no turnstyle.

WESTS Tigers are set to go into damage control with star halfback Robert Lui charged with allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

The Daily Telegraph understands Lui landed in hot water after a Sunday drinking session with his Tigers teammates after their 13-12 loss to the Dragons on Saturday.
The Tigers squad continued celebrations today in Sydney, but Lui was nowhere to be sighted. The 20-year-old was due to apepar in Burwood Court over the matter.
A club source said they were aware of the incident and it would soon to be dealt with.
Lui has gone from strength to strength this season and scored a try for the Tigers at ANZ Stadium. Another club source said it was ``totally out of character'' for Lui to act in such a manner.

Go easy.

What's your problem? U got some beef with the bloke ?

Let the authorities deal with this.

Yes I have a beef with any maggot that hits his pregnant girlfriend. I hope the authorities deal with him, and I hope the club deal with him as well.

What if she is a Dragons supporter?

Just relax. You don't the know the whole story. Would you say the same thing if Rhino or Fulton or Benji or any of your favourite players did that? Probably not.

Think about the flow-on effect for him..his partner and child if he is sacked..or if he's punished by the law..by the club but also supported and kept...take a minute and really think about it, it's more complex than just sack him..if that happens then he well may hit the skids and a sad life is assured for a few people.
Also the club should seek the assistance of DOCS in making their decision as this is not their area of expertise..the wrong decision could ruin any chance his kid would have of having a dad he could be proud of..does his kid deserve that being snatched away from him because of a very bad thing his 20 year old dad did after a team drinking session?..if he was out of control then make sure he's in control for the rest of his time at the club, then maybe something positive could come out of it..his partner's decisions will be for her alone but the child probably deserves a chance at some future happiness and someone to be proud of..think about it.

Can't believe anyone would want a maggot at their club. These charges are not only relating to Sat night after the game, that was obviously the last straw, one of the assaults dates back a few months. Dont care if it was Benji or Robbie, if they beat up a pregnant female, I would want them gone. Bye Bye maggot.

DanOz I don't dislike your hardline approach, but I think you're being a bit sanctimonious. He's just been outed as a wife-beater - he has to wear that, and he has to work out where he goes from here. Any real chance he'll get things right if he simply finds himself on the scrapheap?

These so called mad Mondays have to end.

I'm sure the entire squad is feeling remorse now.

While Robert has to accept responsibility for his actions, the club has a duty of care and dumping a player from the Torres Strait Islands who has been with the club since he was 15 does to me not seem the right thing to do.

The word is compassion for both Robert and his girlfriend.

The public shame, counselling and punishment from the court should be sufficient.

To me, the club needs to retain him but place strict controls on him. Perhaps a mentor might be the way to go. There are plenty of good role models in the squad.

Oddly enough, no-one seemed to give a sh*t when Daine Laurie did something similar around the same time last year.

Why show Lui care and compassion? He's allegedly hit a woman, a pregnant one at that. I don't care what your background is, this behaviour cannot ever be condoned, justified or ignored.

He needs to be punnished. If he loses his place in the team because of it, then so be it. He only has himself to blame. The Tigers have nothing to do with this incident, and they need to do the right thing by their fans, sponsors and image.

He must be sacked if found to be guilty, no doubt about it. I don't care who does this sort of think, it's f**king deplorable, and if I had my way, he should be locked up and beaten daily for 2 years.

See how he likes living in fear. Filthy gutless cowardly merkin.

If he's found guilty... If he's found guilty... If he's found guilty. From what I read he handed himself over to the cops. Sounds like he's farked then.

The club shouldn't be in too much of a hurry to keep him in the starting 17, but they shouldn't be too quick to, er... lock him up and flog him daily for two years either.

Let's see how all this plays out before we go hollerin' for a hangin'... All we've got so far is that he's been charged and that he's planning a defence. If it turns out he really is a f**kwit, show him the door.

I can't help but think of Paul Whatuira and all the well-wishing that went on in here when his story came out. The simple fact of the matter is, you don't know what drives a bloke to do stupid things.

You may not know what drives them to do stupid things, it still doesn't justify their actions though.

There's two sides to every story and the real story never seems to be the same as the initial one. As was mentioned, he's been brought down and spent a long time with the club, presumably away from support systems crucial to a young bloke growing up.

The terrible news about Terry Newton, just this weekend, shows that football has a responsibility to these young men, regardless of their deeds. You can't expect them to make footy their life and then throw them to the wolves when they are expended.

That said, if it's all true, he probably shouldn't be playing for our footy side, at least until there's been penance served. But since when are the WT judge and jury on matters separate from football.

I can't believe people want to support a maggot who assaulted, robbed and choked his pregnant girlfriend, and not just a one off after a mad monday even though a one off is still inexcusable, he has been charged for assaulting her on more than one occasion.

The club brought him down when he was 15 boo hoo, he is responsible for his own actions and anyone that shows this grub sympathy is in my opinion at some level saying domestic violence may not have been his fault because of this or that, which is simply disgusting to me. Only a person of poor character hits a woman, let along a pregnant woman, let alone on more than one occasion. I hope he goes to jail and I hope his pregnant girlfriend escapes this cycle of abuse and finds someone who knows how to treat a lady. To show this grub support disgusts me, but I suppose that is part of the reason why he thought it was okay to smack her around, because there are people out there who want to reduce his responsibility for his own actions. Imagine this was your mother or sister he smacked around and then come out and support him. Unbelievable.

In the Laurie situation his girlfriend alleged he pushed her, which is something that he admits to doing but it stated it was to get her away from him and he was the one who called the Police. He was not found to have a case to answer at court. Very different to the allegations in this maggots situation, and this maggots girlfriend has some visual facial injuries to support the allegation.

Couldnt agree more with the rest of your post however.
