well there are still only a handfull of nrl games between them  ... if actually playing nrl is what gets you to a higher level of play then they pretty much have the same excuse

That's what I was trying to say. Thank you, strider!

Nah, mate; I`ve never said or thought that. I`ve defended Robson because he`s way better than his detractors have claimed, but he`s not the missing piece. We need a more attacking half in the long-term. He`s a good fill-in at the moment, but his lack of attacking flair was in evidence tonight. With Hayne struggling with the 'flu' and unable to provide the attacking spark, Robson and Mortimer were not quite up to carrying all our attack. I`d be very interested in giving Kelly a go at some stage, but Kelly and Mortimer together might be a disaster. It might destroy both of them.
agree with you mate. i would like to see klly given a run off the bench or in the centres though.

for now, until kk and mateo return, robson/mortimer are probably or best combo in the halves.

I love the way Robson tackles.

In a game where young stars shoot up because of their freakish attacking abilities only to sink into oblivion when their defensive liabilities are targeted, Robson plays with real courage and persistence.

So did Finchy.

I like Robson because he plays for peanuts, which is the converse of why Finch's performance for us last year and early in '09 pissed me off.

I'd like nothing more than for things to click for Jeff and he do well enough to earn some respect. That said, he may just not be up to the challenge.

I think his passing and running game are adequate. He doesn't have the best vision, but he could get by with a fit Hayne at 1, Mateo at 13 and someone capable in the 6 (Mortimer might fit the bill with some more development and experience) to support him in generating and capitalising on attacking opportunities. The thing I'd love for him to improve on - which I think he could with work - is his kicking game. If Robson's kicking game was better, I think he'd definitely be NRL standard.

I wish him luck.

I wouldn't mind seeing:

7. Matt Keating
9. Robson

14. Mitchell/Kingston

At least until KK and Feleti are back. I think Robson's good qualities (his running game and strong defence) are perfect for a dummy half. OK, he wouldn't be explosive - which is why Mitchell/Kinga are on the bench.

Thoughts? I know MK is probably not the best option for a halfback, but in my eyes he has a solid kicking game, strong defence and can pass the ball.

THe game against the Tiges was a very good example of being able to throw in a game breaker like Kelly into the mix.

Kingston deserves his place and so I would go for

6. Mort
7. M Keatinh
9 Kingston

14. Kelly

Throw him in when we need to speed up the game
