Just another poorly run club...they should be building on their success from 2014, not imploding from within!

Jade is good bloke but from what I hear things are ramping up a few notches with the new coach and while it was a mini implosion things are back on track.

Its not so much a poorly run club as a club run on a budget much less than all the others. Their focus is on developing young players rather than spending money on established players and trying to win the comp.

Good luck to them tomorrow against Asquith

That approach is OK providing they enter a comp at an appropriate level. It would be much better if Kingsgrove played in the Sydney shield. They wouldnt match the top shield teams but they would win maybe half the games and play against guys of the same level. That would make 10 teams in RMC and 14 in the shield - no byes.

I see that Hills District are looking to improve on 9th place last year in the Shield by signing prop Brod Wright who played 40 games in the NRL from 2008 and 2011 and at 27 should still be very capable.

100% spot on. They should drop to SS, and unless they improve off the field, stay there. Anyone who has watched fringe NYC kids in RMC, know that they're physically not up to it, bar the rare few. Burwood found that out in their 1st year, when most of the Tigers fringe NYC couldn't handle RMC.

time to make this and the sg ball 2015 a sticky?

Would it be feasible to introduce promotion and relegation between the rmc and sydney shield? Obviously would need to limit each club entering the structure to 1 team. But two 10 team comps with p&r as the pinnacle of metro footy would be a good look and perhaps more stable than the current setup. Could have a licensing system where clubs apply to enter the structure and these cluld be reviewed after a set period.

Off the top of my head wenty, cabramatta, auburn, mounties, hills district, wests, kingsgrove, guildford, windsor, blacktown, asquith, peninsula, burwood, belrose, campbelltown. There is 15 current clubs already, could we find 5 more between sydney metro, central coast and perhaps illawara?

I agree but why not put all A grade sides in the Sydney metro area into the pool and have 5 or 6 divisions of promotion and relegation. And while they are at it do the same for 14's up before we only have 2 or 3 sides playing in each district. No wonder kids give up playing after being flogged every 2nd match by stacked sides.
And I think it is why NYC ends up 40 - 30 each week the players don't get conditioned to play hard football week in week out so switching off becomes habit at a young age.
I know the junior leagues wouldn't let it happen because its about them and not the game (Parra & Penrith)

I agree, the time for the old district football is long past and the game needs to take a new direction at grassroots to reverse the decline in some areas and continue to prosper in others. The sydney combined competition looks to be the beginnings of that concept, but it needs to be applied across the whole metro area. Brisbane is organised along north and soutside competitions at senior level, maybe sydney could use something similar say; East and West with the border at parramatta, or 3-4 metro zones if necessary.

Everything i have seen about grassroots rugby league in australia is that it is geared towards mega clubs in each area. In the likes of newcastle the clubs have to be able to field 4 grades to be able to play division 1 which has forced port stephens to fold this year as players are choosing to play 2nd Div so there are only 8 div 1 clubs in 2015, meanwhile the board prevented stockton fielding div 2 as it would apparently affect port stephens. This has also happened in the illawara where the competition is only 6 teams now. IMO A-grade should be completely seperate from the ability to field multiple grades.

An example is the central coast soccer which is organised like so
Premier (& reserve)
Div 1 (& reserve)

Premier and div 1 have a promotion and relegation between them. Then below this in a separate pyramid is the open age competition from open age Div 1 to open age Div 9 and separate again is the junior structure up to U-21. I guess the newcastle division has this in a way but the requirement to field 4 grade s in div 1 is prohibitive to growth.

Hopefully part of shane richardsons agenda is to tear up the old system and generate a similar or better model to organise grassroots footy.

Kingsgrove got dusted by Asquith 4-68. As someone mentioned they'd be flat out making the finals in sydney shield. They were mostly made up of fringe u/20s players, going up against a halves pairing of Aaron Groom and Ben Fisher - 250+ first grade games and 4 world cup campaigns between them. Add to that blokes who've done their time in 20's years ago and are now seasoned to the physicality of open age football. I fear for them when they come up against a Mounties or a Wenty. Definitely do not belong in this competition.

Well done Weiry. I wasn't so sure about Auburn as they have lost many players from last season but still have 8 or so that have played NSW Cup or higher. Windsor have a few seasoned players but nothing like the teams they put on the field years ago when they won 2 titles.

I saw the Mounties game. Both grades were held up for long periods waiting for ambulances. Blacktown had about 12 new players in their squad so they have transformed into a competitive side but they will have to temper their tackling style, you cannot win conceding so many penalties. Waqa is certainly a big unit for Workers and will be hard to stop

No surprise with the Asquith game and it looks like Wests have not recruited sufficiently for their new Sydney Shield team.

How did Mounties look? I think they could definitely push for a premiership challenge on paper.

Yeah Waqa is a big bloke came from the Inaugural Roosters NYC side keeping Tamou on the bench I believe but got into some trouble from memory and from what I heard gave the game up but looks like he's back I guess.

After an arm wrestle for the first 20 minutes Mounties appeared to be controlling the game and led 10-0 at half time but the Blacktown kept coming back.

Having lost the GF last year you would expect them to be one of the top sides. They always have a lot of player turnover but they will benefit from Canberra cutting ties with Souths Logan. Last year when Mounties had to share Raiders players with the Queensland side there would be 7-10 raiders in NSW Cup but today I think there were 15, this means more depth for RMC.

Mounties had players like Vaoitu, Leato, Worsley and Tavita playing Sydney Shield, while Dargan was a late call up to RMC - all have played NSW Cup.

Wests have gone backwards, since 2013. Another poorly run club, considering the finances they have from Ashfield Wests.

Blacktown definitely to be the biggest improvers. They have a smart co-coach in Weisner, who is well liked and respected by most players.
