Seems to be doing alright

Head Coach Ian Millward also commented, "Pat is the ideal player for the modern game. He is over 6ft tall, fields high balls very well and has a special and powerful kicking game. In keeping with the modern game he gives us cover for several positions."

There are a heap of stats although hard to know which are accurate, they differ wherever you look...

But from the Wigan site..

2006 Statistics
Tries 12
Goals 12
Successful Goal Attempts 75%
Apps 25
Total Points 72

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007 Statistics
Tries 16
Goals 130
Drop Goals 2
Successful Goal Attempts 82.8%
Apps 33
Man of the Match 6
Total Points 326

Not bad. I wouldn't complain.

doesn't mean he couldn't make a real go of it here again, it might just be what the team needs.. a former senior player might give them all some drive and motivation to get back to form. He would be a great peer for the young up and comers too.
Should he return.

In all fairness Mish, those stats mean jack sh*t.

Do you think Jamie Lyon was good this season?

His points scored seem pretty impressive, but overall he was sh*thouse.

In all fairness we need a winger and he seemed to do well under tim sheens. would you rather mcdonnell on the wing all year?

You dont rate Pat, madunit??

I think hes a gun. Big, strong, can read Benji like a book and always backs up, can play as an extra forward, huge boot on him - 75 metre drop outs, good fend... who gives a fluck if he flys high and comes down with nothing. His positives far outweigh his negatives.

Up there with Prince as our biggest losses imo

I totaly agree with you Ninja. I honestly think Pat Richards was one of our biggest losses from the premiership winning side.

I know that in some of the tries he scored, any winger in the right position would of scored, but most of his tries and try assists were exceptional.

Just imagine Richards on one wing and Tuiaki on the other.

He is still playing great footy in England and I'm sure if he were to come back he would be inspirational to the side. It would be like a fresh start for him.

47 pages to go.

Pat would be great for our needs in 2008, a winger who can defuse a bomb and has some size. It just depends on what chunk of the cap we would have to give him. Because I think come 2009 we need to really start chasing some big names. Because they generate sponsors media coverage and fans. You cant run a team in sydney without them, maybe a one team town is different. Their will be Sydney teams who will perish over the next five years and because we have the biggest growth area will not protect us from the chooks or who ever. We just seem to be going backwards

Not very fast, can't tackle, whats the point of having a back if they can't diffuse bombs?

Injury riddled

we need a halfback, not a winger

over priced

I dunno, i think if you were objective and actually looked at his negatives as well as his positives you'd get a much more realistic view on the man.

not very fast? he is fast enough or was the last time i saw him with wests. cant tackle? thats not true. Might not be the best under the bombs but he can practice that alot at training. If they move Hodgson to halfback then a winger or fullback is exactly what we need.
