1. Poison ( uncensored) Alice Cooper
2. L.O.V.E Machine WASP

Todays music clips are soooo gay, give me a wink at the camera or arena setting then a bunch of beatle look alikes playing Strats wearing suits or gangsters driving around in bombs making geniused/unorthodox wanking motions to the cameras yelping 'yo'.

Honestly, music clips use to be such a huge thing for record lables selling albums, today the clips are so lame, boring and hardly inspirational. When i watch the Final Countdown clip by Europe or Cum on feel the Noize by QR i just have to keep watching it over and over, today when i watch a clip i say to myself 'thank f**k thats over'.

We all know the classic videos, we remember them, what classics are there today?

I say bring back arena clips which shows the emotion of the crowd, the energy of the band , girls and some fancy light shows, in all bring back the f**king spectacle!

And people wonder why Rock is considered dead, this is all a conspiracy to kill rock and make pop/rap the only genres, why? it's cost effective! no need to buy intrusments eg guitars, double base drums, roadies, talent etc all you need is a mic and a computer and a couple of 70's/ 80's albums and bang you have an album, simple and cost effective:p ;-)

I would rather beat off to a Ramones clip all day every day then watch the crap these days, hell i'll even become a groupie for You am I if it means bringing back some decent clips!

All the best songs have average clips. Opeth's "Windowpane", for instance, is the lads just playing. But the song is just so awesome.

Rubbish, great songs have been enhanced by a quality music clip, hell, how many average songs have you heard yet the video made the song alot better eg Blink 182 or Blood hound gang and even to a lesser extent the Beastie boys who turned average songs into great ones just by there clips.

Agreed. A good film clip really makes the song.
To the purists that might be sad, but I reckon if you can visualise the song, visualise whatevers happening in the clip, and remember the song, you enjoy it more.
I hear some of my favourite songs and immediately think back to the film clip.
Unfortunately a lot of my favourite songs didn't have film clips.

Tool have interesting clips. I'd still take anything Opeth over them.

Blink had funny clips - I'd still listen to anyone else over them.

Weird Al has funny clips (and lyrics) - I'd still rather listen to a great song with a bland clip.

One that comes to mind is simply Eric Clapton and Tracey Chapman performing "Talkin' About A Revolution" - it was performed on MTV Unplugged, so it's simply them playing and singing. Boring - but the song is great.

exactly!! when i hear November Rain i think about Slash playing the solo outside a church in the middle of nowhere, when i hear the keyboard solo to Jump by VH i think of eddie smiling at the camera or when i hear girls on film by duran duran i think of mud wrestling.

A good video can significantly enhance your fondness for songs, i actually hate just listening to songs, i have to see the film clip too!!

Today clips are neglected, people want to see there favourites performers showing emotion as well as the rest of the band and interacting with crowds.

I agree with what your saying, however do you agree that clips certainly help the bands image and your perception of them?

I disagree Ron - music videos have played a huge role in the steady degeneration of the quality of popular music today.

Most of my favourite songs don't have film clips - although I do enjoy some of Immortal's clips, hilarious watching Abbath in his dodgy costume.

Of course there are some classic film clips but in reality MTV has a lot to answer for.

It is the sole reason why image has become more important than substance.

Definitely. I love a good clip.

But like you said - most bands these days either put too much into thei clips and not enough into their music, or simply make bland clips but let their music do the talking. The reconciliation of both is hard to find these days.

Cradle Of Filth tend to have interesting videos, though.

I think your missing my point? IMO todays clips are too over produced and lack any real attraction for the viewer, they're dull, computerized and if anything over produced. Give me a 'Still of the Night' or 'Here I go again' music clip over anything today, that sh*ts all over modern clips.

A great but effective clip is 'cum on feel the noize' by QR that clip is simple yet probably more powerful then anything i've seen in the last ten years.
