Bowen doesn't want to be there, that's the most interesting thing dished up . . . this game in Australia is a pr**k in a shirtsleeve

Wigan showed a lot of heart to get back in it, although temporarily. Played an up tempo game but stupid mistakes cost them. Someone else said it was like a standard England v Australia game, the poms letting themselves down at crucial moments. Most Roosters tries weren't exactly well put together, just taking advantage of poor reads or broken play.

In the UK, there is a rugby league message board for daft kids and one for grown ups. It would be useful to have such a divide in Australia.

i went to the game.

the crowd was brilliant showing people are crying out for the nrl to start.

on the game itself wigan were terrible. if thats the best english RL can offer they will never catch up to us.

the best england can hope for is to have 20 - 30 players in the nrl to get to the level of NZ.

if they rely upon SL to develop their players they wont be beating us regularly during our lifetimes.

compared to the glamour sides of the 90s wigan was a fairly average side, and since losing tomkins they have no stars.

mat bowen is terrible.

at least wigan had the guts to come out here for once but it didnt do their game any favours what so ever

the roosters never left 2nd gear and the match lacked intensity

at half time footab had odds of the roosters paying 1.00 and wigan 64 lol

The shame about that Wigan team is that it's not a reflection of the team that won the super league with all the squad changes that have happened since the GF.

Couldn't agree more, and to be fair the LU mods came up with a good idea in the troll cave for the dickheads, but unfortunately some people aren't restricted to that area and they get loose into the NRL section far too often.

So much for ESL fans and their 'atmosphere' and non stop sing-a-long during games. Wigan fans were dead silent the majority of the game and were at their loudest singing their national anthem  what a bunch duds

They did however bring more fans to last night to the SFS than Penrith have combined for the last 10 years though.

You do realise that most of their fans were an entire hemisphere away right? The loudest ones are generally the ones who sit in the cheaper seats too, chances are the Wigan fans who did come over were the older, richer brigade predominantly.

It's Wigan, like NRL clubs they have one song, Wigan,Wigan,Wigan.... Repeat ad nausea.

The reality is the gap between the game in the northern and Southern Hemisphere is growing year on year. Not really that surprising when you consider:
Registered players 400k + touch v 100k inc touch
Avg club income $16mill v $9mill
Peak body income $250mill v $45mill
Pokie jnr club funding v govt jnr funding
RL main game in 1/2 country v domination of soccer in UK
RL bigger than union v union bigger than RL

When you consider all things the SL clubs and England/France actually punch above their weight most times.

I sang both National Anthems last night

It felt good to sing God Save Freddie Mercury oh no too late for a change

People started staring at me when I sang increase Australia Fare straight after

But but but but there were 2,000 of them. Excuses, excuses.

On tv you could hear chants of Wigan but it seemed quieter at the ground

But then I was drunk and talking loud so who the f**k knows

I did expect more noise from them though.

Good to see they turned up in large numbers. That's proper loyalty.
When the Roosters played Saints in the UK in 2003 we had 10% as many there

Wigan played a good second half but just ran out of steam in the end. I think the biggest difference was the size and speed of the packs with the bigger chooks dominating. Of course bowen was absolute garbage and for someone was an NRL starter last season thats pretty disappointing, i think he only carried the ball into contact once and offered barely anything in support not to mention his dispicable efforts under the high ball. Wigan would have been better served with a youngster at fullback, if i where them i would be giving bowen an ultimatum to see if he really wants to be there

I honestly think we will be the side that goes back to back for the first time in the long time. Such good defence and strike weapons everywhere.
