A lot of negative comments, zero alternatives being thrown up.
Mary and Mulholland have inherited a side with no room to move in terms of salary cap space, and no decent players available to sign. People are asking what the strategy is, well it looks to me like they are trying to create space and re-shape the squad. They are trying to move players on and signing stop-gap players on short term deals.
We're not going to win the Premiership in 2015 (but I seriously doubt we'll contend for the spoon either) - I think we'll be middle of the road again fighting for 8th spot. I expect us to be very active in the market for the 2016 season and a top 4 side again shortly after that. So long as we can hang on to Merrin and Widdop we have the nucleus of a premiership side that we can easily build around.
Who's fault is it that we're in the position we're currently in? Steve Price for starters, and Doust for giving him enough time and resources to dig the massive hole that we're currently in. But from the outside looking in, it looks like Mary and Mulholland are doing the best they can with the little room they have to move.
As for Brett Morris - he's gone. I wish he could have finished his career as a one-club player but it wasn't to be, and frankly for the coin he was demanding I'm glad he's been moved on. As I've stated before you don't build Premiership sides around good wingers and wingers are a dime a dozen in this competition - every club has good wingers. Yes I know he's the best winger in the world and good on Canterbury for signing him, but their attempts to buy Premierships have been futile so far.
