I'm sure Ricky Stuart is happy we did well.
You know, because it's all because of the systems and structures he put in place in his one year here.

Thanks Ricky.

Even though we seemed to have a lot of defence to do, our top tackler only had 28 tackles (Watmough).
Sandow was second with 23.

Josef Paulo did nothing but miss tackles and give away penalties again. With degois and peats in the 17 it's the perfect time to f**k him off to park footy where he belongs.

Seph was one of our good performers bar 1-2 passes that werent the best. But didnt cost us like Lussicks who's passes just werent on.Really sick of the Seph knockers-He had a solid game!

85mtrs off 7 runs- 12.1 mtrs average per run
20 tackles -2 missed

Tepai made 14 and missed 4 and ran for 30 mtrs (he did have a great game thou)
Gower had 6 runs for 48mtrs

yeah i was surprised when i looked at the stats ... there is usually 1 stand out with up towards 40 tackles ... but the counts were really spread ... often the hooker is high, but we split our hookers so i guess thats partly why no standout

i guess everyone stood up and shared the load ... or maybe manly were just all over the place

i tend to think Seffa plays better when he actually takes some real hitups - rather than just non-stop crabbing and passing

Probably because no one in the middle played a full game. Normally there is one or two players that play a full game but last night most of our middle players ( Issac, peats, watmough, mannah, lussick, Paulo, Paulo and gower) probably at best only played between 40 to 60 mins each.

I agree. He did less 'middle half' rubbish last night and more 'middle forward' work. I bag Sepha but thought he actually played one of his better games last night.

I loved seeing Lussick trying to kill people. It was awesome.

Aside from his errors, he played well IMO.

Yep, totally agree. For too long opposition teams did not fear our forwards. This may soon end with Lussick(whom I never rated highly),Watmough and Mau leading the way :x:x:x

i dont know about you guys but i just feel a lot better watching this team with Peats, Watmough and Mau playing. I just get a feeling of confidence and an expectation of a competent performance. Something i havent felt since Cayless and Hindy were playing together.

Good first win, can't wait for Friday to see how we back it up!

Nice present to arrive home to, eased the pain of the 14 hour flight!

Yep we definitely played more up the middle last night. Our halves only got about 40 touches each whereas last year they would typically handle the ball 50-60 times. Our outside backs only carried the ball 28 times between them, yet last year they often racked up over 50. Hopoate had 16 touches for 13 runs compared to Hayne who would handle the ball 30+ times with about 20 runs.

Now that we are no longer hamstrung by trying to get the ball to the fullback as much as possible, we don't need to play so much across the field. That takes away the need for an extra playmaker in the middle. Joe Paulo had 13 touches last night for 8 runs. Last year he would handle the ball more than twice as often, yet rarely make more than 7 carries.

So we score 42 points and you worry about the fullbacks contributions???? After only letting in 12 after all that ball they had????

I thought Hoppa was very good, and the buy of the century Robinson went very well on the wing like i predicted :sarcasm:

Why change it????

I'm not worried about Hoppoate's contribution. And I'm sure he'll get better (since it is very early days). Merely agreeing with Ram and noting that I'd prefer to try Robinson than Norman at fullback if a change became necessary. Also, I guess, people have expected a fair bit from Hoppa at fullback. I'm not one of them. I would have kept him in the centres and had someone with more pace at fullback.

My opinion is that Hoppa had a great game. I loved the way he held his run in scoring his try when Sandow was half tackled. Loved his clean up numerous times from short kicks. He ran strongly and his on line defence was great. He seemed to follow the play very well. Positionally he was very good.
He will do me for a fullback and no doubt he will get even better.
