Interesting comments from Wayne in the post-game presser.

"Tonight was a move forward from how things have been... I know where I am going and what I have to do. "

Let's hope so Wayne, because time is fast running out. For this season anyway.

Good, i take heart from that quote.

The full quote
'I've come here for four years and I didn't think this was going to be a quick fix,'' he said. ''If I was looking for a quick fix I'd be doing things differently. I know where I'm going, I know what I'm going to do. I've just got to get everybody behind me. They're all working hard to do that.''

A great press conference. Wayne is so unflappable. We have to be patient. That is his message. He was dirty on the grubby tactics from the Cowboys and the hit on Darius was a shocker. Referees were abysmal last night in that department. I agree with the lie down tactic. Can't wait till Beau Scott gets here. He would have deadset blown up at that hit on Boyd and got in the Cows faces about it.

I think that's part of the problem, we just don't have much mongrel apart from Willie. Seriously when's the last time someone from our team fired up? I mean I'm not talking about cheap shots but f**k atleast get in their faces from time to time, play with abit of aggression. I remember a time when Nev had mongrel, these days he's having a hard enough time just holding on to the ball

 "What did you make of Thurston's game tonight?"

"I don't know, I wasn't watching him."

Snowden tried to fire up the last time we played the Dragons, shame no one hopped on board with him.

I honestly believe The Cowboys will win the premiership this year if Thurston stays fit. They are a massive team. They look like contenders this season. Their defence was superb last night. Going by form to date the most likely top 4 this year will be Storm, Broncs, Manly and the Cows. Those four teams are light years ahead of the rest of the comp right now. All four are very very physical and mobile teams and they are a coin toss when they play each other . It is a ball bounce or a missed tackle which seperates those four.

You wait though, sure enough...he'll be overlooked by most in KOTW.

I haven't looked at the thread, but I bet at least half of the people in there give him points this week!

Have looked at the thread now, and at last count I can see 17 from 18 people in there including points for Aku...so there you go :) we do notice him after all!

Manly with Williams and Foran back will go back to back in a canter. I guarantee it. Too much size, mongrel and xfactor in their pack and too much class across their backs for even Melbourne to contain away from AAMI.

So true RABK. The fact Manly won at Suncorp minus Foran and T Rex should send shudders up other sides collective spines. In short. Wow.

Boyd butchering that try in the left corner when it was 12-12(I think) in the second-half was a blight on a pretty good performance otherwise. Was a big moment in the game.

Yeh we came out well in the second half but Boyd and Aku both bombed a try each.

Interesting that Boyds left to right passing, the one that was non existent before 2012, is the one he is nailing whilst is right to left pass (the one he got 40 try assists with at the dragons) is producing a lot of errors. Maybe getting pinged a couple of times for forward passes to mcmanus has him down on confidence.

Do we blame that on McManus?

It's always something we've noticed since his debut that one of his flaws is he's too flat in attack and doesn't make it easy on his inside players to get him the ball without the ball being flat at best.

I thought that was the best game Boyd has had for us, plenty of involvement and looked like making a difference, maybe he's turned the corner.

We did bomb some tries last night, starting to a bit of a habit for aku, a clean break and then being tackled by the fullback, he's a little less effective at the moment than he has been.

No, the ball should have gone to Tahu. The cutuout was the wrong option from Boyd, it would have been a simple case of draw-and-pass for Tahu.

It was the wrong idea from Boyd. The poor execution was secondary.
