What does man handled mean?
Is there footage? I cant remember what unfolded after the hit.

He was the third man in basically, I think that is why he got fined they said a few weeks ago after the epic raiders whinge that they would crack down on that stuff also.

Agree. Its bad enough week to week changes in officiating, but game to game and its a farce. I understand that due to the fact its a different ref each game, human nature dictates things wont be identical but these merkins need some guidance on the application of the games laws and ensure consistency.

The Liam Martin incident is a head scratcher, the To'o 'third man in' over the sideline is even worse.
I am happy if these are the rules the NRL want to abide by, but stick to it every f**king week and apply the same scrutiny.

Shit, theres more embarrassing shit in our game that could use a review. The stripping is a blight on the game. Nothing uglier than the gang tackle, players peeling off and then its a fight for the ball like two brothers fighting for the one Nintendo controller.

On stripping. Why is not 6 again? If a defender is playing at the ball surely it should be 6 again. Yet is never called that some very strange rules in the game

He dragged Ese'ese off. By the look of the video, Edwards was pretty angry.
Deservedly so.
These guys are at their peak on the field, testosterone and adrenaline would be pumping. It does not excuse stupid acts on the field, but a reaction to an incident like that is expected.
Maybe Edwards did more than i can remember??

Well said Westy. This was long overdue. There might have been a few soft sin bins but all the send offs were spot on. Tallis admitted the Titans' tackle was "a send off even when I was playing".

The type of tackle Fuimano and Papali did have always been treated as a penalty in the past. There was a view it was "accidental" no harm intended. It doesn't matter whether serious harm was intended or not, but Papali and Fuimano were so reckless the hit to the head was inevitable. The Papali tackle is the same type of tackle that broke RCG's jaw. Papenhasuen was stretchered off the field. They should have sent Fuimano off and then brought him back on so they could send him off twice!

Ian Roberts and Mario Fenech are just two players I know of with brain injuries from playing league. There are many more. Cordner hasn't played for 10 rounds. Friend was forced to retire. How could we tolerate this damage to players for so long? This started because the refs don't like to send blokes off because they get criticised by dinosaurs like Steve Roach.

Ricky Stuart is an idiot for saying what he did. The game is just as tough as it has ever been. The only difference is the cheap shots of lazy players like Papali will no longer be tolerated. It's about time.
There is a lot of commentary about brain damage resulting from sport in both league and soccer. It is only a matter of time before somebody sues sports administrators for a lack of duty of care. This crackdown is a result of that pressure and isn't going away. Nor should it.

Even if there were 0 head high tackles brain damage would still be an issue. Take Wade Graham or Jake Friend numerous concussions this year all from making tackles. Then you have the force of a prop returning a kick off back etc.

It is a part of the game. like Boxing, MMA etc players know this risk and can either decide to play or not

Thats the teddy shot that got a cowboy 10 minutes, his knees are basically on the grass here, a split second before Teddy is still on his feet, what is the cows guy supposed to do? To sin bin him for that is just crazy IMO. This a hugely different tackle than Leoata's for example, if this guy got ten then any high shot where the attacking player is standing should be a send off because that is much worse than this completely accidental high tackle, there is no swinging or stiff arm, not even a shoulder to the head.

Correct mate, the Teddy incident is f**king atrocious and was predicted by every man and his dog due to his running style and history of slipping.
Remember when Tedesco slipped in Origin last year? Pappalis shins cleaned him up and ended his night.
Not Pappas fault, just as the Cowboys bloke is not at fault.
I dont want to see either sin binned unless there is deliberate intent to take somebody's head off, but contact with the head is the same regardless of the body part that hits the head. The outcomes the same. Increase risk of concussion.

UFC has HIA protocols as far as I know. 3 months before you can fight again.

Tedesco is going to have a lot. He practically takes a knee like an NFL quarterback into tackles. It's infuriating.

That for me sums up the frustration for me. Surely no one sees that as a sin bin but the rules are worded poorly
