Round 10 vs. Panthers Discussion + Voting

Wow i haven't seen our work around the ruck, both attack and defense, look that bad in almost ever. Horrible peformance all around.

Thaidays ball control is starting to become a serious problem.

You can say what you like about the halves (both of them, Locky wasn't good either) being well below average, when the dummy half play is at the standard it was tonight and when our forwards do absolutely nothing to get plays rolling, they had no chance. You can only make something out of nothing a handful of times.

Everyone was just very flat. It seemed like penrith were back maybe 8 meters in defense at all times (no saying they actually were, just seemed that way with how poor the ruck play was), we had no one going forward, over half our completed sets were for around 30 meters or less. Just not a good performance...

I can't give Hala any props either. 2 solid hit ups do not make up for being that lazy in defense.

3. Parker
2. Glenn
1. Reed?? I almost feel the last point should be forfeited

Oh and for about the 10th time, Corey Norman is not a solution to our five-eight/hooker/utility problem... And we have a MASSIVE problem with the number 9 at the moment.

No excuses. He gave up.
He's been like this all his career. It's not like is an once off.

No-one is saying that Hala isn't lazy, news flash you aren't the first one to observe this. Some of this are saying that he was one of the best Broncos out there tonight, like it or not.

This part of your post is spot on imo. And its a real concern given that the Panthers lost one of their best forwards before the game even started.

Let's hope it was an off night

NEWFLASH he had two good hitups and you're blowing your jizz over your right hand.
It's just like Bulldogs fans blowing their jizz over Idiris just cause he's black and big and makes two good hit ups a game.

I just noticed McCullough made 54 tackles tonight... Not a bad effort seeing as he probably only played 60 minutes or so. Shame about the attack.

How do you know I'm right handed? ;-)

Mate I have no idea how good of a player Hala will end up being. Just saying I thought he was pretty much one of the only Broncos who had any impact. Hannant and Thaiday pretty much no impact and they are internationals!

If you don't think Hala was worthy of any points tonight that is fine, it is your opinion and I respect that. It's unfortunate that you can't respect anyone elses.

Bad game, didn't feel confident coming into this one, especially after the Courier Mail stated "with a win at Penrith tonight, Brisbane can set up their season with the 2 points from this game and the bye next week".

Parker - 3
Beale - 2
Reed - 1

Got nothing else to say about this game really, good night

Black Friday the 13th.

Hopefully it's that one off game for the season, because we were owned! :x

With a forwards performance like this, we could have the best halves and backline in the world, and we would still get trashed.

The only good news is that Locky and Hannant will probably be okay for Origin and Hodgo has "only" a grade one hammy. (2-4 weeks)

3-Parker
2-Glenn
1-Copley

P.S. Please no more Norman/Beale/Macca experiments!

No sour grapes over this game. We were beaten by a better team. The panthers worked us over in the middle of the ruck in defence and attack. Mistakes, mistackles and errors could all be attributed to this. Anyway at least we've got a bye next week to work on things.

3. Maccullough
2. Dodds
1. Hala

Isn't it just becoming so hard to watch. The thing i don't understand is that Norman is not in contention for fullback any more. It's Hoffman and Beale if Hoffman is out. Play Norman as utility because if he has any chance of getting in the team, it's 5/8 or hooker. Doubtful on both.

So after this bye I think Gillett, T'eo and Hoffman are back. What do we think?

Gillett or T'eo in the centers with Jack Reed? Copley or Beale on the wing the other back to QLD cup? Anderson or Hala out? Stick with Norman at utility till Hunt is back?

I've never seen Baptiste play but judging on how we're going and how people talk about him, I really think they need to start considering other hooker options.

Dummy half is a specialist position, and Hook treats it like it doesn't matter who he puts there, as long as they can tackle. Wot eva. With Gillett, Teo and Hoffman returning, Mac will do for now.

Beale to the centres and Thaiday to the front row when the injured players come back. Kenny to the bench, Anderson and Hala drop out. Baptiste gets my vote for the utility spot while Hunt is gone.

Gillett is out for a few more weeks yet. Like 6 more or so.

Ummm

3 Parker - looked pretty good at centre for that try, such a consistent player.
2 Beale - looked more dangerous than most, shouldn't be defending in the middle of the field..
1 Lockyer - might seem like a strange pick since our attack was terrible. But he was trying very hard in defense even after being somewhat injured. No one else stands out anyhow.

Is that your (in bold) way of saying Peter was average last night?

Do you agree that we should play Mc for 80 mins or give Baptiste a run as opposed to the mc/hunt/beale/norman experiment? I like you, am well over it.

Can't agree with your assessment of Copley. His intensity was lacking last night (I realise he wasn't alone......). From what I saw of him he seemed to lack any aggression running the ball and was only playing like all he had to do was go through the motions.

A couple of the "fringe" players were disappointing last night. The likes of Dodds, Kenny, Copely, Norman

I thought Hala was effective, although yes, his attempt to get across on Walsh going through was pathetic

Hannant was off his game.....

Parker, Thaiday, Glenn and Anderson were the best of the forwards

Lockyer and Beale .......for the backs

Hard to find any positives out of the game. They were all crap TBH

Hopefully that's one of their two bad games for the year .......Hodgo's fitness or propensity to get injured is a worry

Next game's a new game. Hopefully they can get back their previous round's attitude towards playing for each other as a team.......

3. Parker
2. Lockyer
1. Thaiday/Anderson

Parker's evaluation is the only decision I feel comfortable with.

BTW, I don't think McCullough did so badly last night. Actually put in a couple of kicks that didn't suck for once. He also didn't have the ball knocked out of his hands.

He also made 63 tackles in 54 minutes.. that is incredible. Missed 0.

As bad as he is, he is 10x better at hooker than Beale.
I would rather see Glenn at hooker than Beale.
I would also rather see Thaiday at fullback than Norman.

Parker's evaluation is the only decision I feel comfortable with.
Wallace was ordinary in an ordinary team, but then again so was Locky. At least both of them, Parker, Glenn, Beale and Copley (best back imo) tried hard in a very ordinary team. In the front row, we did nothing but a couple of Hala runs, worst I've seen from the Broncos in a long time. Without go forward and without a dummy half able to do more than tackle, I can't expect our backs to perform miracles, even though Wallace and Parker sortta performed a couple!

If we didn't have the defensive routines and scrambling defense we have, the result would've been much worse!

I think it's been said, but the inability of the refs to police the 10 mtrs also hurt us, because it amplifies Macca's slowness, while Beale clearly cannot perform in that position. He needs to be at fullback or wing at best, as he lacks seriously in the tackling dept.

Get Baptiste or some hooker from Qcup, they can't do a worse job than Macca imo, and hopefully they can last 80 mins!

I know Macca did 63 tackles last night, but not many will have been that effective, given the way the Panthers ran through our middle!
