Round 11 v Rabbitohs - Team List

They make offloads, just not many linebreaks.

We made 6 offloads against Warriors (0 linebreaks)
5 offloads against Storm (0 linebreaks).
Last line break by a fwd (1) was Gower v Brisbane, and the Penis made one v Newc.

That says more about support play (Lsvk of effort by our halves and fullback) than it does our forwards.

I think the forwards have done a decent job given who we have had unavailable during this year.

exactly, why people think he is our goal kicking savior is beyond me

be interesting to see if Robbo kicks this weekend, or they revert back to Kelly

Apparently Robinson has had a quad injury since Round 2, which was the reason why he has not been kicking. I cannot see it miraculously improving in the 6 day break in between games... If he is kicking then I'm not sure I would be backing him in.

Kelly has potted 4 goals in Rn6 for Wenty, 3 goals in Rnd7 and 4 in Rnd 8.

Based on that maybe last week was just a bad day at the office ?

Sixty seven percent?!? That little merkin was kicking well into the eighties when he joined the club.

I'd bet that the percentage of tries we score out wide would be pretty damn high.
It seems like we rarely score close to the posts (and when we do we miss the kick - Sandow vs Knights/Kelly vs Warriors).

Does that mean he missed plenty of goals in all the other rounds?

And of the 3 kicks, 2 were difficult so you almost expect a miss (a goal is a bonus from the sideline IMO).

The other was a shocker, I think we all realise that. As TS said earlier, we have a habit of missing those though, regardless of who is kicking.

Sometimes you do wonder how much kicking practice our guys do.

Can anyone recall the last time we scored a long distance try - from over half way? We only seem to score when we are close to the line which really limits our potency. If we don't get up there - we are unlikely to score. Our poor kicking game only adds to the issue.

I was referring specifically to whether the backs could score points.

To be honest, we've mostly been let down by our forwards. Everyone seems to think we have this great forward pack but we don't.

Ma'u has become ineffective. Our props don't bend the line. Peats isn't playing all that well. Watmough is an error machine etc.

.

Manu has had a great year, is averaging approx 122m / 22 tackles a game.

Got a link for that? Because I don't reckon I would make such a specific prediction. I would give a range of possible finish positions because that's as accurate as you could hope to be. How could you predict the impact of injuries and suspensions and off field distractions?

Pretty much every year I say we're a mid-table side. That's a finish anywhere from 5th to 12th. There's normally f**k all separating them.

Does it matter where we score them from? They're all worth 4 points anyway.

Rabbitohs v Eels
Rabbitohs: 1 Alex Johnston 2 Joel Reddy 3 Dylan Walker 4 Bryson Goodwin 5 Aaron Gray 6 John Sutton 7 Luke Keary 8 George Burgess 9 Cameron McInnes 10 Dave Tyrrell 11 Ben Lowe 12 Chris McQueen 13 Jason Clark 14 Issac Luke 15 Nathan Brown 16 Tim Grant 17 Thomas Burgess 18 Daryl Milard 19 Chris Grevsmuhl
Eels: 1 Reece Robinson 2 Semi Radradra 3 Ryan Morgan 4 Brad Takairangi 5 John Folau 6 Corey Norman 7 Luke Kelly 8 Tim Mannah (c) 9 Nathan Peats 10 Danny Wicks 11 Manu Ma'u 12 Tepai Moeroa 13 Anthony Watmough 14 Junior Paulo 15 Richie Fa'aoso 16 Peni Terepo 17 Pauli Pauli
Chris Boulous writes: The premiers face a season-defining Origin period without the services of Adam Reynolds (injury) and will be without Queensland superstar Greg Inglis. Last year they won two games out of three without GI and will be hoping for a similar stretch this year on the back of their own big three – Alex Johnston, Issac Luke and George Burgess. Their opponents are missing only Will Hopoate (NSW) from last week's team but have been missing composure and execution all season. No doubt the Eels will be hoping to replicate their round four win and move off the bottom of the ladder.

Tip: Eels by 4

I'm interested to see how we go this week to be honest. Souths aren't at full strength, but they still have a decent team with only really Reynolds and GI out.

We need a win more than Souths do at the moment.

I wonder how much skills practise the players do.

Brian Smith was big on skill training and his teams showed plenty of razzle with low errors. The eels of the past 4 years cant string two passes together without park football dropped balls and forward passes.

I think Arthur has them practising set moves rather than improving the players skill sets.

What a dopey comment. If you are only capable of scoring when you get close to the opponents tryline, then you are very limited in the number of tries you will score.

Does that really need explaining?

Generally goal kickers will practice kicking as 'extras'.

I'm guessing it's one of those "extras" that gets neglected. Just like the little one percenters that are the difference between winning and losing.
