I must of been watching the wrong games, has Maloney really been better then Cleary??

I don't think Maloneys been better. Maloney is supposed to be the creative one yet Cleary has created more tries and as many line breaks so far. He forces a lot more dropouts than Cleary that's the only area he has been better. We know he is a much worse defender, it cannot be overstated what a weakness Maloney is in the defensive line. He also gives away a lot of penalties which is our achilies heel. And he lost the captaincy during this season so hes not leading the team as they want him too.

I think he will do much better now as organising half, he is smart and experienced enough to get us around the park well and without the pressure of being the main creator for a struggling attack I think he can focus on leading the team.

I think Maloney much more varied kicking game, but a liability in defence.

Interesting to see how Maloney goes now he's out of Origin. FWIW, I think it's obvious that he's well down the line behind Keary & Reynolds so he needs a few things to go his way to get a look in.

NSW would have to get a serious flogging, and Keary would have to be unavailable as well. In short, I think he's played his last Origion.

Depends what stat you look at I said best attacking halves combo because Cleary has the vision of a blind man.

Even in defence Cleary tackle efficiency 83%. Maloney 78% Last year there was a bigger difference

According to fox sports stats.

Maloney has 19 Forced Drop outs. Cleary 8
Maloney averages more kicks and kick metres a game
Maloney 40/20. Cleary none
More attacking kicks. Less kicking errors then Cleary
Maloney has 9 errors. Cleary 11.
Line breaks Cleary 3. Maloney 2.
Both have 9 line break assists
Maloney 5 try assists. Cleary has 4.

I think with Cleary gone, Jimmy will actually take control of the team and we will see some points.

Its clear to see these two dont gel together, but perform better when one is gone

Cleary just runs and bombs. Luai likes to run so this combo is better

Closer than it should be
Disagree. The veteran of 3 grand finals and 2 premiership wins should be our best player more often than not.

Although i think the issue is these guys are playing off the worst hooker in the competition and feeding the ball to the most unreliable backs in the competition.

Cleary is on more money. Current rep player should be at the peak of his game while Maloney is old and borderline NRL player.

Hooker isn't helping that is true

He's phoning it in like his last year for the Sharks. He doesn't give a single f**k

This. Our hooker is the issue.

Put Cook in our team and our halves dominate 90% of games.

I've said this countless times this year....Katoa is the worse hooker in the NRL by a country mile. I'd prefer he never see a panther jumper again, however if we MUST play him, at least but him at lock or something. Far away from hooker as possible.

Egan/ Kenny for me.

Cleary is only 21. How many 21 year old halves have been at the peak of their game?

Maloney is only 32. Far more 32 year old halves have been at the peak of their games than 21 year olds.

Is Cleary even earning more than Jimmy yet? He might have been upgraded a bit for this year. But he was already contracted so he might not be.

Either way. Jimmy is the veteran and he should be in better form than Cleary. Cronk, Smith, Thurston, Lockyer etc. sure as hell weren't shit at 32 years of age.

People need to stop looking at Cleary's age.

70 FG games. 6 Finals. 3 Origins Soon to be 4 origins.... Hardly a rookie anymore

Maloney has an added reason to play well. To prove to clubs in the ESL he is still worth a punt. He might get a sub-par deal if he keeps up his current form.

How many halves were at their peaks after 70 games? And If you only want to look at experience and not age that just makes it worse for Maloney. More games, more rep games, more finals plus 3 grand finals with two wins and still is not performing better than Cleary.
