Round 15 vs Roosters

RCG is realistically the only one out for an extended period. Griffin said CHN should be fine. In the game against Manly we should have Leota, Blake and Kikau all back. We are also back at Penrith, where we are yet to lose.

We already have Wallace retired, Edwards, McKendry out of our round 1 top 17. RCG for 10 weeks now makes 4... We will make the 8 certainly but I guess we see if it was a down game of the decline starts

I think we can all agree that the next game versus Manly is crucial. We can't afford a slide because if we don't make the Top Four there will be no premiership.

Plus we have been able to hide our wingers pretty well up until this point.
When I saw those breaks through the ruck very early on,I thought that if we didn't fix that up,we'll be in for a long night. We are too good of a team in not to get our act back together. We'll be fine.

.

I think those defending a -10/10 performance are providing the entertainment

Who's getting razor blades out? Im referring to a single f**king performance. I havent once said it writes of our season or kills our chanced. Im calling out a gutless performance.

Just as I would praise a terrific one. But no. Apparenyly getting dmashed is the refs fault. And the player who f**ked up a dozen times bears no responsibility

Yes, the whole team played bad. But why do you always death ride them? If you expect perfection every game, go and follow chess ffs.

Stop being a drama queen.

It's not a final, they're in September.

Tom.

Quite simply nothing went our way tonight and the roosters couldn’t put a foot wrong.... roosters won’t get another game this season like that against a top 4 team.

We were really off tonight - still have confidence in the squad, but the injury curse strikes yet again....

Shake it off, rest up next week and let’s go again in 2 weeks time against Manly.

Okay just read through and while it was a piss weak performance, I simply don't understand why everyone is giving up all of sudden... we might as well throw the past 14 rounds away then?

The Roosters have been smashed this year, most notably by the Warriors 30-6.
The Dragons were belted by us.
Melbourne were smashed by the Dragons and Manly.
Cronulla got smashed by Easts and the Dragons.
South Sydney are then only team that have not been belted.

It is unrealistic to think we would go through the season without one bad game. I think we needed that. Hopefully the players realise the need to not get ahead of themselves and take their good form for granted. They need to aim up and I am hoping we turn it around ASAP.
I think the burden on the shoulders of the replacements is starting to show. We need some of our players back soon.

Mate as i said to the frog just ignore BMX when we lose, there's no point, brick wall.

Pot, Kettle Black. The biggest 'brick walls' on this forums are the excuse givers and club apologists who always try to put a positive spin on everything. MX calls it as he sees it the vast majority of the time.

If there were minus Dally M points Maloney would get -3. He was woeful in everything. Shit kicks, knock ons, poor cover, silly penalties. Whilst he was crap Cleary was just a passenger till the game was just about gone. He did start off the chain of events that lead to the Phillips BOMBED try that could have changed the game but we needed that earlier.

Anyone who thinks he is currently worth $1M need their heads read. At the moment he is leaning on Maloney hoping that he would mask his deficiencies and when Maloney falls short he is failing to really stand up and take control.

To be honest though everything went wrong. All our players contributed typical bonehead Panthers brain explosions from Cricton's pass to Yeo (knock on) the biggest bombed try of the year (Phillips) Hetherington/Merrin/Maloney key knock ons at half way...wingers getting caught off their wings....Peachey with some ordinary defence and getting himself sin binned. There were more that I just can't remember at the moment.

And you could just tell after 5 minutes that Roosters came ready to rumble...and we were just going through the motions. We need to learn not to get ahead of ourselves and not take anything for granted.
Yes, all good points. On the other hand, we all have a bad day at the office sometimes. We were building to this, a bit flat last week, even flatter this week. If I was the Roosters I would be happy, but bit a wary that with so many player missing form the Panthers, 68% possession, a 9-3 penalty count and playing at home, you could still only score 32 points. What happens if it's 50:50 possessions and it's at a neutral ground and the penalties are 3 - 3? We have plenty of improvement in us. By all means peer over the edge of the abyss, but don't jump into it just yet. We are better than we showed tonight.

He can grind his teeth together, which is a good sign. He'll be going for scans tomorrow.

Don't forget everyone, the reggies tomorrow (Sat) @12:40 pm on Fox 2.

As i said. Bury your head in the sand.

We play like shit and no one wsnts to acknowledge it. Lets just blame the referees. We xan praise the team. But not call them out when they suck.
Mx, you always put your heart on your sleeve, but you tend to be over the top. We are either crap, or brilliant. Life is never so simple. We didn't get a fair shake from the referees, its ok to acknowledge that. The game would have been closer if we did. But I haven't read a single comment that implies we lost because of the refs.

The Roosters were fired up and from the first play were hungrier, sharper and just up for it more than we were. Now our team, god love it, has a heart bigger than Phar Lap, they just keep coming, but tonight they went to the well and it was dry. They just run out of juice. The young players like Ellis and Hethrington were still in there smashing the Roosters, the forwards were still trying to gain dominance and we were still throwing punches when the final whistle blew, but alas, this was not their night.

RCG left the field with a busted jaw (FFS, will the person in Penrith who keeps smashing mirrors and running over black cats just stop already) and that popping noise you heard was the sound of fate sticking a pin in our balloon. We were done. RCG going off represented our fourth first grade quality front rower being injured. McKendry, Brown, Leota and RCG. That is a a big toll on your forward depth and yet Henrington and Ellis did their utmost to try and fill in for the huge whole in our forward stocks.

You are right we did suck. But considering how many players are missing, the debatable refereeing and the loss of our best forward in the first 10 minutes, we tried really hard. Most teams would have conceded 50+ points given the context of the game.

The 3 coming back will help. Problem is 3 with SOO another 4 halfway across the world in Denver. Means we won't get any extra sessions together nor a rest. The hurt should build from tonight though

Then we have Warriors without our halves and Sharks 2 days after SOO 3.

We will be right after that but we don't want to leave to much to do coming into the finals.

We are still running 3rd which is good this is just a testing period where we don't want to start losing games in blocks

That said I can't imagine we will get many more games with only 32% possession

Yeah they would of gone straight to hospital if it was that bad. Let's hope it is like DWZ's

It's been coming and I am not surprised we were outclassed this evening.

Given our injury woes what happened tonight should not have been a surprise and some here were very naive in dismissing the Roosters, particularly questioning there forward pack.

I've said it before and said it during the week our outside back's of DWZ, Chrichton, Whare, Peachy & Phillips are no where near as good or the equal of the better sides in the competition. The return of Blake and eventually Mansour cannot come soon enough. Not laying the blame for tonight's loss of our outside back's simply pointing out the obvious and that is we lack strike power, a large part of which has been forced upon us through injury.

The usual suspect's on here have condemned our performance as inept and no one should be the least bit surprised by that.

This evening according to the updated NRL injury list the Roosters were missing only Bernard Lewis who is out for the season. We all know who was unavailable for us. I wonder if we were at full strength, injury free and the Roosters were missing the likes of Tedesco, Ferguson, Mitchell and three key members of there forward pack I wonder whether the result and performance may have been different?

Our other rivals for the top four and all basically injury free and at full strength what a great position to be in.

It may not have been a great performance and it was certainly not the result we were hoping for but it would be nice if some on here were a little more realistic given our current predicament and not resort to the usual bullshit following a loss.

Aussie Jim is the only forward who shouldn't be dropped after that peahearted display. Letting that soft Roosters pack dominate is f**king embarrassing

Id be more concerned if I where the Roosters missing almost 30 tackles againsdt a depleted panthers side who had 32% ball.

Rooster where red HOT. But giving them 6 point start didnt help.

A poor Maloney kick gave them a 7 tackle set where they scored. It was the turning point.

Maloney and Cleary had worse games I have seen. Cleary was invisible. I cant see either playing that bad.
Phillips bombed a certain try. I think it was 22-6 at the time. Every pass stuck for the roosters, 40/20 etc... Maloney kicked out on full and failed to force line drop out handing 7 tackle set a few times.

Blake and Mansour will be back soon
Whare looked sharp
Leota and Kikau will ad grunt
Hopefully RCG is back sooner rather then later.

Top 8 is tight. Any team can beat each other on the day. It is a year teams could win it from 7th. It just means one extra win. I dont see any standout teams as of yet. I see 7 teams as good as each other plus Brisban or raiders or tigers taking 8th spot.

Nathan Cleary was not allowed to play. Maloney should have given him more ball.

It was a terrible game to watch. Very frustrating. We can't play like that again and players being injured doesn't excuse our halves of being so bad. Maloney single handedly gave Roosters the game with the constant errors. 1 intercept, 1 kick out on the full, 2 7 tackle sets. Cleary did well setting up the Whare try and also the try that was bombed so his worst is clearly still reasonable quality.

Excuses.

Maloneys been great. A bad game and mxlegend all over it

That's not even mx you're responding to. Notice the thread is Panthers Vs Roosters not "other games Maloney played well in. He was worst on ground last night. You'd expect him to lift but it doesn't excuse that game.
