Why do people think Hook won’t play Luai? Especially given he’s already played him off the bench.

Be absolutely ridiculous to put Egan in 7 in front of Luai.

MX doesn't rate Luai and to be fair May is running rings around him in reserve grade. I think it's more a preference than what will actually happen.

Peachey at 6... Carty at 6... how is Egan at 7 any more ridiculous then those?

We had a chance to develop Luai in the NRL alongside an experienced half when Cleary was injured and instead chose to use Peachey there. Atleast Egan has been a regular in the team lately.

Whatever we do the halves pairing is going to be pretty average and on a hiding to nothing. I think Egan is a better one off option as he's the one being developed off the bench.

For the record I think Luai and May will be the halves. I just dont rate Luai. Apparently Hook doesn't rate him very highly either.

I think he should and will play Luai. Playing him off the bench a month ago or so was preparing for this very match.

Sometimes you just have to pick them. This is one of those occasions. I'll be surprised if Luai doesn't get a chance.

Keep in mind Nathan Cleary is yet to sign on the dotted line. Luai may be our future half and if we are thinking about the future this is the perfect time to give him a run. If guys like May, Luai and the rest of the reggies don't get a run they'll simply sign elsewhere.

Big game this one.
We lose to the warriors
Broncos beat titans
Storm beat Dragons
Roosters / Sharks have a bye.
We drop to 7th with the Broncos.

We'd have to lose by 47 to be behind the Sharks but play them the following week with everyone backing up.

Katoa can't play 80 anyway. Will be as simple as we can make it. NSW Cup is 1st both halves in the 30 man squad. They would come in.

I give us 0 chance of winning either of the next 2 games so should try something else.

Aekins
DWZ
Blake
Whare
Phillips
May
Luai
JFH
Katoa
Merrin
CHN
Yeo (c)
Martin - best forward we have had come through the grades

Egan
Kikau/Talakai
Leota
Tamou

We know we have guys to comeback. A few guys need a stint out of the top grade. No better time than when we have to make changes anyway

Blake to center may to half peachey to 58 Tamou not getting suspended is a help. Can anyone name our top 30

Edwards
DWZ
Blake
Whare
Mansour
Maloney
Cleary
RCG

Katoa
Merrin
CHN
Yeo
JFH
Peachey
Leota
Kikau
Tamou
Phillips
Chrichton
Aekins
May
Luai
Coleman
Talakai
Martin
Ellis
Hetherington
McKendry
Martin
Tui-Loso

Bolded are injured. The new rules are bad that if Phillips and Crichton are fit we can't bring in anyone outside the squad. Aekins can come in and Maybe Luai or May at FB but they are needed to play halves

The rule protects top 30 players getting overlooked for developing players. Part of an NRL contract is based on having the opportunity to play.

Now this is a game we can legitimately blame the rep period and injuries if we lose.

How are you meant to know in Nov who is best for when injuries or Origin strike?

Injury curse is obviously something you can't account for. As for origin normally a team would have 4 at most(using us as an example) that leaves 26 out of 30, add a few injuries and you could be down to 24 - 20. 30 should be enough.

I also defended you and got shit load of attitude in return on the other thread which was fun.

So is there any confirmation on whether we can play Sivo?

Not that I think we will either way.

DWZ, Crichton, Whare, Blake, Phillips, May, Laui, JFH, CHN, Yeo, Merrin, Katoa, Tamou. Bench Hethrington, Kikau (if fit), Ellis & Egan.

Griffin has few options other than to go with the above side. After the Warriors game when rep season is over he will be in a position to make some tweaks to the lineup. One of the wingers will go and both will be gone by the time Mansour returns assuming no further injuries. May has to come into the side to replace Egan. Hard to blame the wingers, when there were or are many others who have been underperforming in last couple of weeks but as I have said from the beginning they were stop gaps and neither is NRL standard.

It seems likely.

May will be in the 17 just where is the question. He has played FB before that would even be a better option get our sets started better. DWZ insists on passing and he can't do it so better get a fb who can pass.

I'd start him hooker all things considered. Egan is the better passer so probably him off the bench

Griffin won't move DWZ. Dallin didn't have one of his better games against Manly but he would have every right to be pissed off if he was moved out of the fullback role particularly given how long he has waited for a decent crack in his preferred position. I don't think he deserves to be made a scapegoat for others who are just not quite up to it.
