Thought Russell Packer and the other forward who worked off his charges were fantastic for the Warriors. Blue head gear was pretty mobile and fast and overall the team hit with venom.

I don't think we'll see much of that blonde winger from Parra in the future... That one try where the Warriors snuck into the corner was unbelievably soft.

Anyone know where the Mannahs are from... Was their father the bloke off 300?

Anthony Mitchell has Lincoln Withers syndrome. Seems to take two steps sidewards than pass a metre forward.

Mitchell missed most of the off season due to injury, hopefully his timing improves over the next few weeks...

You're right Roopy, shame the NZRL management is pathetic.
Ah Mau played well in the forwards, Packer woke up in the 2nd half, but tends to be a bit lazy imo, no doubting he has talent tho.

A fast-finishing Vodafone Junior Warriors side couldn't snare victory against Parramatta in the NYC curtain-raiser at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday.

The home side scored the first two tries of the match and went to halftime level at 12-12. Goal-kicking proved costly, though, with the Vodafone Junior Warriors failing to convert any of their three tries - two to winger Kurt Kara - while the Eels converted both of theirs.

After the Eels scored first in the second half through second rower Tony Williams, the Vodafone Junior Warriors responded with a try to one of their own second rowers Sione Lousi.

But like Kevin Locke and Jody Henry before him, Isaac John couldn't convert leaving the game locked up at 16-16.

In the next 12 minutes it looked like the Eels might have taken the game away from the home side when fullback Domenic Nasso and Williams again scored to stretch out to a 26-16 advantage.

But inside the last few minutes the Vodafone Junior Warriors had a real chance of snatching victory after prop Leeson Ah Mau drove across and John - at last - converted to trim the score to 22-26.

The home side went close again inside the last two minutes but couldn't break through, falling to their second loss on end.

Discipline also cost the Vodafone Junior Warriors as they conceded seven straight penalties in the second half.

The Dragons Toyota Cup side have tonight defeated the Titans 28-4 at WIN Stadium.

After the disappointing start to the season last week the young Dragons put that behind them and put in a dominating performance against the Queenslanders scoring six tries to the Titans one.

The opening to the match was quite well matched with both sides having opportunities in an attacking position but both teams were unable to turn it into points. Off the back off penalties and general errors it was putting the teams in the position they wanted.

It was in the 16th minute where the Dragons were able to opening the scoring. It was on tis occasion off the back of a penalty which put them in a commanding position. After two charges through the middle by the forwards it was then put through the hands and ended up with centre Kane Linnett to score in the south-western corner. Fullback Daniel Nicastri was unable to convert from out wide and the red and whites were out to a 4-nil lead.

Just five minutes later halfback John Kennedy capitalised on a mistake and ran 50m before being brought down 40m out from the Titans line. On the next play Matt Mundine took the ball from dummy-half and handed it off to Nicastri who ran the remaining 30m untouched to score out wide on the left. This time around Mundine also couldn’t convert and the lead went out to 8-nil.

The Dragons continued to dominate possession and posted their next try for the afternoon in the 29th minute. It was a smart read from Maurice kennedy who saw the defence a long way back and put in a grubber. Titans defender Cameron White did win the race to the ball but fumbled it for Mundine to collect. Then on just the third tackle Josh Cochrane caught the defence on the line napping and simply strolled over to score. Mundine converted to extend the lead out to 14-nil.

With four minutes remaining until half-time a penalty against Titans centre Kingi Aka’Oula for a high shot gave the Dragons another opportunity. The try was almost identical to the red and whites first try with two forward charges and then it was spread wide for Linnett to score his second of the afternoon. Mundine couldn’t convert and the score stayed at 18-nil.

Just one minute before the break the Titans opened their account through back-rower Tom Kingston. The visitors simply worked their way down field and Kingston was able to break free of the Brad Hudson attempt at tackle to score in the north-western corner. The attempt was unsuccessful by five-eighth Cody Nelson and the Dragons went to the sheds leading 18-4.

The second stanza started exactly the same as the first but this time around the Titans had the better of the possession. But it was the Dragons who grabbed the opening points of the half through Maurice Kennedy. It was a beautiful step that we will hopefully see a lot more of throughout the year on the 20m line that saw him split the defence and score in the north-eastern corner. Mundine again couldn’t convert and the score was 22-4 after 58 minutes.

A couple of injuries to the visitors slowed the match down but as the they were on the attack in the dying minutes a ball was thrown wide and the intercept taken by John Kennedy. He took it five metres out from the try line and ran 95m untouched. Mundine converted from 15m to the left of the uprights to ensure victory 28-4.

Leon is a shocker....I can think of half a dozen refs in Auckland who are streets ahead
