Round 2 V Rabbitohs

I'll also add to the comments from yesterday that I thought the refereeing performance was absolutely abysmal. There was just no consistency to the calls. Inconsistent rulings in the play the ball were the worst - it was a complete lottery (the penalty on Kikau for not playing the ball properly was a disgrace). There were calls in our favour that were just as bad as the calls in favour of Souths.

Henry Perenara is a a rung below the rest of the referees in the competition, and I think should be dropped. He has been a rung below for a few seasons now and has had his chance. There surely must be some other referees ready for promotion to take his place.

I'm not a Greg Inglis fan and I suppose very few outside Qld and the Rabbitohs are, really. But that was not a good look.

If I recall correctly the reasoning in the members' area that lead to the booing (as much as you can glean the reasoning from a big group) was two fold.

(1) because there were doubts over whether or not Waqa was actually held (which was a complaint about the refs, not directed at Inglis); and

(2) because we had made a run down the field and had momentum, and it caused a massive stoppage in play. The complaint was that there was no reason the trainer couldn't have just walked Inglis off the sideline near the Eastern Grandstand (which was all of 2 metres away), which would have been the quickest way to get him off, and then taken him around the field. Instead, they walked him off (incredibly slowly) across the field back to the Western Grandstand, which delayed the game significantly.

To be honest it sounds like someones alt account trying to stir up drama. A few negative opinions doesn't stop people from joining the conversation, especially when we all say positive and negative stuff.

Yeah they came out with a point to prove.

Because the newbie didn't come in starting trouble or anything.

Also how many of you were the ones booing injured players. That was a disgrace.

GI wasn't booed. The trainer taking him off the long way while holding up the play. Was the issue. He should of gone off that short side and walked around

In the process sending our reputation down the toilet. All anyone will see is GI getting BOO

The reason Maloney is copping it is the price tag. The bloke is a mercenary by is own admission. Good on him and no doubt he has had seasons where he has been under paid based on performance. But those seasons weren't in our colours. He is getting the cash now, so deliver the performances. He is no rookie so he needs to step it up and fast.
How is he even copping it? No ones giving it to him really. People have said hes played poorly and needs to improve. That's about it

Compared to this shit the likes of Moylan abd Cartwright are getting it's nothing. Moylan is a showpony and not a half because he dropped a ball throw behind him with the game on the line. 2 days later Maloney does the exact same thing with a much easier pass.

Maloney has done everything Moylan copped shit for basically. He hasnt done any better than TMM, Cartwright, Moylan or May did last year.

Still trying to understand the Moylan v Maloney debate. I thought it was pretty clear:
1. Moylan didn't want to be here;
2. The swap for Maloney was the compensation to let him leave.

Hating on a bloke for not wanting to play for your club is completely rational - like wanting nothing to do with an ex.

Gagging after the bloke makes you sound like the jilted, desperate ex - come back Matty! We'll do anything you say!

Move on fellas, embrace your new squeeze now.

The post was in response to the suggestion that Maloney would be the new target for the year.

Maloney only came here for a huge payrise though. Not because he wants to be here. So far Moylan has done more for Sharks than Maloney has for us. Thankfully Cleary has been through so many 6s we can win regardless of who our 6 is.

So ofcourse if people are going to shit talk Moylan for mistakes, Maloney making nearly identical mistakes is going to be brought up.

Maloney is the best 6 we've had since Soward. But so far he is yet to be as good as any of the 6s who partnered Cleary. He will improve no doubt. But if Moylan cops it for sucking. So will Maloney.

I dunno. I think Hook is a pretty safe target. The more focus our coach puts into stuff. The worse we get at it. Meanwhile we naturally improve elsewhere.

Or maybe its Gus that's the issue. Who was actually responzible for focusing on our fast starts? Gus or Hook? Or Ciraldo? Gus seems to be the one giving sprays. Maybe he's the issue?

Either way. It needs to be fixed. Souths are a spoon contender and it was a try with minutes left on the clock that finally won it for us. Storm. Roosters. Cowboys.they wont roll over and die with a lead like that. I have no doubt we can match any team in the competition. We have the roster. We have the fitness. We just need to fix our first halves.

I've always disliked the bloke, everytime he threw an opposition players boot into the crowd I hoped that he'd get his jaw broken but things can change. I used to hate Sowie and now I love the man

Maloney is the better half but isn't playing like it. Hopefully it turns around soon.

How many penalties or missed tackles he had though? All his errors seem to be teething errors for playing in a new team. We only need him firing in the big games at the end of the year tbh as long as he doesn't make us lose games until then

Who the f**k knows anymore? NRL have made the most basic match stats impossible to find.

Seems on the leaders of stats appear now.

I just still find it strange how people are so willing to defend Moylan at every opportunity like he’s some sort of martyr.

As for the Maloney v Moylan debate, both have had good & bad moments thus far but it’s Round 2. Other the Cleary, I don’t think there’s a half in the league who’s been constitently good so far, so it’s ridiculous people writing off either half after 2 Rounds. They’ll both get better throughout the year and produce the goods for their respective sides.

Moylan will just have to do it from a 0 - 2 start, unluckyyyy.
