definitely lots to work on, especially our start. funny hearing that brandy said that fast starts have been the aim for this season, although our wins have been from second half efforts. We need to patch that soon though, as a bigger and better team will punish us heavily on that. We were our own worst enemy.

As for the second half, alright performance from what it looked like at the grounds, but when I watched the replay we really looked on top apart from a few silly errors. Unpopular opinion, but I felt as though Maloney did pretty good in the second half in comparison to the first half, pushed up on the rabbits defensive line more and wasnt throwing geniused passes.

Overall good win and its also good to see the determination among the players to make it through, puts all the stupid rumours to bed I hope.

Aside from a couple of handling errors he was decent enough. Seemed to take the right call

I was going to say welcome and look forward to your input but turns out your input is to come on here swinging.

Maloney has been rubbish the last two weeks. Even Greg Alexander the greatest Panther ever said Maloney has been good at training but not good in games. Are you going to write to him about being negative as well?

A 2nd newbie in a few weeks has said virtually the same thing... Maybe they went about it wrong but the msg seems the same

I said it during the game but I think people are selling Souths a bit short. Their first 40 mins was some of the best I’ve seen them play for a while. While we were down 14-0, I didn’t think we played to badly either.

Maloney has a heap of improvement left in him but I saw positive signs that second half. Also positive for us that we’re getting results without him being anywhere near his best.

Cleary, Yeo, Blake & JFH all great. Tamou & Merrin were very solid too.

They were strong at cutting our space and thinking time with ball in hand.

To be honest it sounds like someones alt account trying to stir up drama. A few negative opinions doesn't stop people from joining the conversation, especially when we all say positive and negative stuff.

Yeah they came out with a point to prove.

.So now we know the target of the haters this year..........newbies and maloney.

Because the newbie didn't come in starting trouble or anything.

Also how many of you were the ones booing injured players. That was a disgrace.

But that's Matt Moylans fault. Ask Alice.

Nevermind his gorgeous try assist from 5m out. Or putting Dugan over only for him to f**k it up.

Moylan's the reason we cant score inside the 20.

Cant blame experience either. We have a bloke who has played in 3 grand finals and won 2 paired with a guy who has played 4 finals matches and is breaking records like crazy.
You do realise that breaking goal kicking records won't help you score tries?

It's more of a "You're all toxic" "You all shit on everyone", "You shouldn't do it".

Then he proceeds to shit on everyone and lets himself out before he can cop any retaliation. What a gutless wonder. At least Alice for all the shit she posts, sticks around to take flak for it.
Whoosh. What's that over my head?

this is good to hear IMO = we shouldn't be relying on 1 player to get results. Maloney should come good, he's only had a handful of games at the club - unfair to be writing him off at this stage.

Ugly win but 2 points is all that matters, another step closer to September :p

JFH was great again this week, and the peach fired things up for us when he came on.

Maloney was shocking in the first half, his passes were all over the place. A couple at people’s knees, some behind players backs and a few over heads. As a some have said credit to him for pulling it back a bit in the second half. He looked much better after he decided to run a bit, and I agree there are signs he will get better.
He deserves his criticism though, he isn’t new to the situation he is in and is supposed to be the stable experienced representative half offering support to Cleary. It is definitely the other way around at the moment.

The ref was loving that whistle, he couldn’t keep his face off it. I swear I saw him touching it inappropriately and whispering words of love to it at one stage.

Now that the emotions have worn off this is my take on the game:

Poor start obviously. We had a few sets on their line and couldn't convert it to points. Overall we had more than double the tackles inside opposition 20m yet had to win with a try in the 76th minute.

Maloney hasn't shown much for us yet but it's early days. The big question for him is: Was 2017 age getting him or is he just settling in with combinations here?

Wallace has had a few poor defencive moments lead to tries. This is concerning when your 9 is suppose to tie up your middle. He has good vision but doesn't run enough. 1 or 2 more per game but not on the last. On the plus side his service seems a bit better now that he's had time to rest from last years injuries so good on him.

Cleary is simply wonderful. He just needs to start threatening the defence from the start. I've noticed he prefers to stand and pass early in games. Second halves he looks more determined and playing instinctively. This would help us when attacking close to the line and also help Maloney's game. Getting better at a rapid pace.

Overall dropping 14 points to start games is unsustainable. Other teams will start to get their match fitness soon and the weather will cool down. We can't just beat teams on fitness for long.

I have a lot of faith in this team to do better. On to the Dogs and an 80 minute game of good footy hopefully.

A little something to brighten your Sunday. Peachey doing the ever graceful dance of victory.

Maybe I'm just seeing what I thought I'd see but we look like an all around solid team without the flair, particularly in the halves, to break down defences until they've almost died from heatstroke.

Otherwise, for once, he's pretty much using this roster exactly the same as I would. Just a shame it comes after we lost all our best talent and it's hard to care.

The reason Maloney is copping it is the price tag. The bloke is a mercenary by is own admission. Good on him and no doubt he has had seasons where he has been under paid based on performance. But those seasons weren't in our colours. He is getting the cash now, so deliver the performances. He is no rookie so he needs to step it up and fast.
