How many penalties or missed tackles he had though? All his errors seem to be teething errors for playing in a new team. We only need him firing in the big games at the end of the year tbh as long as he doesn't make us lose games until then

Go back to my comment with the picture at the end you'll see positive + negative + suggested improvements + raising the question of whether Maloney is past it( had a poor 2017) or if it's nee combination issues.

Ben Hunt as much as I hate him has been consistently good. Actually so has Widdop. Dragons halves both firing early.

Well I dont hate Hunt. Just that the Dragons signing him on a ridiculous deal has destroyed the cap for every team now when it comes to what playmakers think they're worth.

~15% of the cap for one players ffs. Leaving 29 players fighting for less than 85% of the cap.

I just still find it strange how people are so willing to defend Moylan at every opportunity like he’s some sort of martyr.

As for the Maloney v Moylan debate, both have had good & bad moments thus far but it’s Round 2. Other the Cleary, I don’t think there’s a half in the league who’s been constitently good so far, so it’s ridiculous people writing off either half after 2 Rounds. They’ll both get better throughout the year and produce the goods for their respective sides.

Moylan will just have to do it from a 0 - 2 start, unluckyyyy.

No one is being written off. Maloney is too good for that. People are just commenting on what has happened so far with the limited evidence available.

I agree, although Ben Hunt was only able to demand it because of what Manly did when they agreed to $1.3 million per season for Cherry Evans the year before (even before the cap had been increased).

f**king Queenslanders are ruining the game. Greatest halves in the game who have won it all several times are earning less than an Origin failure and a Grand Final failure in DCE and Hunt.

When we signed him. The concerns were penalties and missed tackles

Makes no sense. We have plenty of coloured players Islanders and Aboriginal. I heard booing but that is it

Exactly. I also can't imagine that anyone sitting near anyone else who heard any kind of racial abuse would have condoned it. Someone would have said something then and there.

Maloney only came here for a huge payrise though. Not because he wants to be here. So far Moylan has done more for Sharks than Maloney has for us. Thankfully Cleary has been through so many 6s we can win regardless of who our 6 is.

So ofcourse if people are going to shit talk Moylan for mistakes, Maloney making nearly identical mistakes is going to be brought up.

Maloney is the best 6 we've had since Soward. But so far he is yet to be as good as any of the 6s who partnered Cleary. He will improve no doubt. But if Moylan cops it for sucking. So will Maloney.
You really have to let Moylan go - he's found some other club and their fans to love.

He's not coming back.

Freddy said on the footy show that he would give Maloney a 6/10. That he should take over when we are inside the 20.

All good points for him though he doesn't want to mess up Cleary. It is just when to imput that he needs. The good thing is we are 2-0 while he is finding his feet

I've always disliked the bloke, everytime he threw an opposition players boot into the crowd I hoped that he'd get his jaw broken but things can change. I used to hate Sowie and now I love the man
No doubt he's always been a merkin - the difference is he's now our merkin.

Who the f**k knows anymore? NRL have made the most basic match stats impossible to find.

Seems on the leaders of stats appear now.
The change to the NRL stats pages was made at the request of this forum. Too bloody hard to argue with you when you've got all these readily available stats to back you up.

Observations from the couch (Totally tanked, St Patty's Day):

- James Maloney still 'settling' in...he is really struggling. Passing and hands yesterday were atrocious. We are getting away with it for the moment but he needs to earn his pay packet (Highest paid player the club??)

- Another awful start, getting sick of it. It's almost as if the team prefers to chase points? Doesn't really matter how they win it regardless. In 2017 we only played one 80 minute game of football (Raiders). Let's save that for grand final day if we make it that far

- Sam McKendry. Gonna make this boy a thread

- JFH was very physical and took on George well. Wasn't too impressed last week but I was this time. -1 for taking a rest as Cook got one before halftime.

- Some positive signs from Whare. I think Mansour will have a big year if Whare stays fit

Was disappointing I couldn't go yesterday. We are playing some good football when we want to and it's great to watch.
