Sometimes I just wish we would take those early points. Souths were happy to give consecutive penalties inside their 20. A couple of 2 pointers from Cleary might make them be a little more law abiding in future.

Totally agree. Particularly when we get a penalty in front in the first 5 minutes of the game. It is always difficult to bust a relatively fresh opposition defensive line in those circumstances. I was baffled when we didn’t take the 2 on offer today.

Great win. The team showed they will hang in there for the full 80 this year. Will very rarely be blown off the park. They are an extremely fit team. Plenty of positives beyond the "slow starts".

Now I'm no footy coach but surely Hook's message as we run out for the the Dogs game next week is "just play like you're 14 down". Should fix up the slow starts quick enough.

The premiers got 18 penalties and only scored one try against the Tigers.

Much better teams than us haven't won both games. Very hard at the start of the year recent history has shown we struggle early in the year. I will take 2 from 2. You need ugly wins like these to have a good year.
