Gus always loved his players too much. Gave them far too much money. Might had the money to win the comp last year if half the players weren't on overs.Ahh yeah Gus' mindset shows why we could never get past week 2 of the finals.
You need to be selfish to win comps. Burton staying here gives us best chance to win
What you described is hard because a lot of young players particularly teens don't know their strengths and weaknesses and how to leverage their strengths to do the basic but important things in a game like kick to a corner and chase. I don't think it applies to Burton, he's a very tidy player. If his team gets flogged I think he's mature enough not to lose confidence because he knows what he can and can't change.I think even Gus would agree that whether releasing Burton is good for his development will depend on how the Bulldogs go this year.
He has often said letting kids play first grade in a a team getting flogged is no good for their development and that is why he signed "journeyman" (his words) to the Panthers when he was trying to rebuild the club. They need to be developed in an environment that is at least competitive, if not premiership winning.
It is far from clear whether the Dogs are going to be competitive this year or are going to get thrashed. Barrett has no proven pedigree as a first grade coach and the Dogs were not in good shape when he got there. It would seem to me, if the Dogs do get thrashed every week, Burton is much better staying at the Panthers and getting a few games. Even more so now that the club have proclaimed how important he is to their team, meaning he will arrive with a heap of pressure on his shoulders and will be playing in front of a bunch of fans pregnant with expectation. Fans are fickle. Just ask Josh Mansour.
Only time will tell who is right, but if they are soundly thrashed this year, Burton will be glad he stayed with us and come September, as he packs his bags, no doubt he will be looking at the small print in his contract.
They don't have the forwards to play in the wet and Clearys kicking game is a massive advantage imoThe rain will hurt us more than them.Clearys kicking game is shortened by the rain our steppers will be reluctant to step
It is a real danger game

And Moses is a bumHis kicking will be the difference. Moses kicked the Storm to death.
The only bulldog that would tackle him is Jake Avarillo,Just play Burto in the front row for 80 minutes.
Glanville is on his last legs, great competitor but is so complacent these past few yearsHopefully, we do not hear about Landry constant complaining after todays game. One thing I must mention, Jake Glanvile has signed to play for the Knights next year, the Knights, and most notably their sponsors, are not pleading, or I should say attempting to blackmail, the Cowboys to let him go this year.

Granville is a bum who they don’t need this year.
Any chance of the game being postponed or moved? Don't think this rain is stopping
Good points, however, I was also pointing out the professionalism in the Knights. The pleading from the Bulldogs is unprofessional, and juvenile.
The bulldogs have nothing to lose, everything to gain. Burton’s manager also has nothing to lose, everything to gain.
I don’t see what the big deal is. They ask, we say no.
From the sounds of it, we aren’t even listening anymore.
The knights are winning so no complaints .The dogs are losing so they smoke screen the losses by using burton .But even over at there site the kennel there supporters are saying enough get on with itGood points, however, I was also pointing out the professionalism in the Knights.
