Technically I think the NRL travel would be considered essential, as it’s work travel. But it might not be a good look.
If they let the NRL go ahead they won't be able to stop anyone travelling. And after ScoMo's brainfart of wanting to watch his team play, he will be dead meat at the nexr election.

Well the difference us they are able to take ridiculously strict precautions to a point the general population can't like limiting contact with the public. They also have the fact that so many people depend on them for income and the morale of the population having some form of entertainment.

Like playing a contact sport with 33 other potential virus carriers every week? How can they self isolate better than members of the public who aren't playing a contact sport? They can't. It's arguable about people depending on them for income or morale, but that part of your argument is a bit tenuous. Casino, Restaurants and bars are dependent on people for income too - they're largely closed down,

Looks like this was the last game for a while, all non essential travel has been cancelled.

The Prime Minister announced on Sunday morning that Australians should cancel holiday plans but the tighter restrictions on non-essential travel are not likely to affect the NRL's plan to continue the Telstra Premiership.

Still could change in the coming days. State premiers might do their own restrictions.

Playing a contact sport is fine assuming those you contact don’t have it.

Those 33 other players plus whatever staff are all under isolation as much as possible already.

They use chartered flight so there is no contact with the public .Not sure if this will matter but it might

back on the footy
this year it is noticeable Cleary is looking to play what is in front of him.Case in point when Frizzel fell over Cleary headed straight to the hole and put crighton through. This could be a big turning year for him.Barrett has been already a big addition to the club you can see a better structure around our attack

The whole Coronavirus situation is so sad on many fronts and I will stay away from any more political statements around it but from an entirely football perspective it was a momentum killer for us and I would have liked to have seen how we fared against the Storm in Melbourne in Round 3 but alas it was not to be. (Even more so given my wife and I were travelling down for the game)
