Manly dominated nearly every stat. Metres, fewer tackles missed, line breaks, possession, average set distance. The only thing we were better at were offloads and fewer errors.
Strangely, they chose to only use two players from their bench. All of our bench had reasonable minutes with May the lowest at 24 minutes. I think that had an impact at the end because Manly looked gassed.
Perhaps we are not giving our team the credit for being on the wrong side of the stats, hanging in there and doing what was required when it mattered. All with a stack load of first grade players missing and two HIA's in the game.
How good is it to have two wingers that can move a bit quicker and actually catch the ball? Both Mansour and DWZ will be better for the run. DWZ looked quite rusty (still better than Crichton or Phillips though).
I think Maloney needs a week off. He just looks exhausted. The only issue will be our kicking. Cleary is a terrible tactical kicker and sometimes you need to roll the ball in the corner or play a cross field kick. I think Cleary can do them, he just doesn't seem to know when to do it and defaults to a bomb. But giving Maloney a rest will be better for us in the long run. May can play in his place.
