Our first try in the second half was a deep and wide backline with Waqa running into the ball at pace and having room before the defence, we have not seen that all year he’s getting flat balls with the defence right in his face straight away.

The only time we look like having a bit of depth is on set rehearsed plays, the rest of the time the team is constantly pushing over the advantage line as soon as the ball is played.

To say Our first try after the break, which was clearly a set play with our formation set up, somehow proves that we played off the cuff is ridiculous. We ran that play 5 times yesterday & 5 times the week before.

Flat pushing up over the advantage line straight away with not much space and zero depth between the edge forward and the centre outside them. IE Waqa and Whare can almost always reach out and touch their backrowers when we are attacking. Hook would rather see us putting it through the hands with short quick passes as opposed to long cutout balls like the one thrown to Waqa.

That is the structure we’ve been running for 3 years now and it still is ineffective.

Nothing comment. Tell how does a good coach not get an improved effort out of a team after conceding 50? The only difference between this week and last week was that manly are a shit team and Brisbane are a decent team, if we were going against a good team we very likely would’ve conceded 40 plus again. We played woefully yesterday but full credit to griffin if that makes you happy LOL.

I’m not arguing Hook was/is a master coach yesterday, far from it actually, but I have issue with people saying we won due to the players taking over & playing ‘off the cuff’ when there is precisely zero evidence of that.

We legitmately scored off 2 plays we tried to set up all day. Other then intensity, increased confidence & execution, we played no differently in that last 15 mins.

Exactly. It last like when Maloney said last week he’d be more worried if we were winning at this stage of the season.....like copping 50 points at that stage of the season is better than winning lol what f**king horseshit. It’s called trying to put a positive spin on a shitty situation.


We concede 50 points then come out for 70 minutes and get dominated just as thoroughly as we did the week before by a much worse team and Martie wants to have a go st people for bagging the coach. If that’s not blindly defending someone I don’t know what is.

Potentially, I didn’t know the order of the tweets. At the same time though, he could of realised the way the tweet came across & wanted to clarify or people are just trying to find something in nothing

Other then execution, was there anything different in our structure / game plan the last 15? I don’t think there was. Im not saying anything to defend Hook, i just can’t see how people are saying we played totally different because the players took over & that’s why we won. We finally executed our plays / found the confidence to execute our plays, that’s why we won imo. Mansours try (& maybe even Blake’s) was I play we’ve ran countless times this season.
