I agree with most of what you say but there are a couple of arguments here:
* Mbye is not being recruited to take Norman's position. He being signed to be our utility. He can play FB, Centre and 5/8.
* Amone put his hand up last night and looks streets ahead of Sullivan in terms of claiming the 5/8 position.
* I agree that Bird is a disaster at FB although you can never question his ticker. He is a rugged, in your face defensive centre in my view and nothing else. Let's stop experimenting with him.
* If Griffin doesn't want to use Dufty for whatever reason then use Sloan. At least the kid's got speed to burn and looks to have a lot of attacking flair. Couldn't do worse than Bird last two games.
* In terms of Ramsey, he definitely hasn't set the world on fire but he came into first grade as a fill in when both incumbent wingers (Ravalawa and Pirera) were suspended. He is not a winger. He is a specialist fullback and until he actually gets some serious game time in that position, we will not know whether he can contribute to the improvement of our team.
* Norman has been a waste of cap space and is not competitive in today's game. He has ESL written all over him and has been consistently disappointing since McGregor signed him on big money. I hope Griffin gives him a miss for the rest of the season.
* I agree that We need to pump up our forward stocks. Molo is a good signing but we need a couple more hard heads that can build some intimidation into our pack.
Frankly speaking, I think both McCulloch and McGuire have not disappointed me. Their work rate and commitment is impressive. There is no doubt that they are reaching the veteran stage of their careers but they are a lot better than some of the journeymen we have signed in the recent past.
If we can improve the rest of the pack, their experience could well make a big difference.
* Just a final word on Griffin. I think he is miles ahead of McGregor who we persevered with for 6.5 long years. We can at least give him a chance to see whether his methods are still relevant in today's game.
Agree with all that except Sullo is a 7 not a 6. If he gets a go there with Amone 6 and move Hunt to 9, Sloane to 1 watch us zing... not sure about how we defend, we will worry about thta another day
Happy to have Cody and Sloane fight it out at fullback in the off season, Cody is starting to put his body on the line, just needs to come up with a new plan to start sets etc

Funny how people say the coach isn’t up to it yet he doesn’t need to teach them to hold the ball? Penrith scored something like 3 tries off our own mistakes… if we hold the ball and don’t give them field position it’ll be a much closer game, every week we gift points with terrible ball handling
2 of those tries being off Brother Normy

Must keep McGuire plus one more tough nut.

Who noticed the reason why the Panthers layed on so many tries. Take a close squizz at the replay and like me you will see that the much hyped Rava was defensively missing in action in most of them. He kept leaving his wing creating an overlap which Penrith's smart and alert playmakers exploited. One of the Panther's long range tries was instigated when Rava flew out of the line, missed a tackle and left a gaping hole out wide. This bloke has size but nothing between the ears. Makes fundamental errors. He is a liability.

Yes. I rated Nene Macdonald too.. why did we offload him.

Rava has done this in other games too. Are our coaches blind. A couple of classy plays by young Amone in comparison to what Norman showed us.. two poor passes that gifted them tries. Our season is done and dusted so now is time for Griffin to have some faith in these three kids. Play em for the rest of the season so they can get some cohesion and momentum. No point picking them one week and benching them the next. So Sullivan for Clune, Amone for Norman and Sloan for Bird.. either centre or FB.

With you. First time I saw him I had him as a fullback. Sloan looks to have the game to play anywhere in the backline. Lomax is another we could give a crack at FB. He is class act and is fine under the bomb.. in fact he'd put some AFL players to shame with his leaping marks. He also has great awareness, is good on his feet, a deceptive offload, is a sound defender and would be able to be more involved in the attack from the back.

Rava is one of the few bright lights we have in the backline.
He does make the occasional bad read, but to suggest he is a liability ?

Coming out of our zone he is priceless. Scoring out wide, massive hits, and is improving all the time.

He has had 48 appearances with 34 tries. Rav isnt an issue. He's an asset.

Why move a class centre his best position and why would you not use the class potential very good fullback in Sloan or Ramsey
But Sloan has a perfect build, step, speed and foresight for that position

Completely disagree. His mistakes exceed his good plays. Yes he has bulk and decent speed and makes the odd massive hit. But misses more than he makes. The bloke does not know the meaning of marking his fellow winger. Therein lies his greatest fallibility. He needs to improve a hell of a lot.

No debate from me. Just figured Lomax likes to get involved in the game.. often he is left to starve in the centre as we have uncreative halves. I can see him flashing into the backline to make the extra man and creating something. Yes he is a class centre.. I also see a class FB.

48 games 34 tries.
Good figures. Now detract from that try tally the ones his brainless enthusiasm has created for our opposition. Occasional bad read? I counted at least three in the Panthers game alone.. all of which led directly or indirectly to tries. Three in a single game. Betting there are plenty more in the other 21 games.

I saw Rav come flying in twice, on both occasions Penrith had 3 on one and Rav thought his best option was to try to cut it off. Only one of those resulted in a try but our cover defence had plenty of time to stop it but weren't up to it. For Naden's 2nd try Rava was again faced with a Penrith overlap thanks to Lomax rushing up in a bad read. Not Rav's fault. The other tries were on the other side of the field. He did drop a kick though which resulted in a try. Our defence is like under 7's at times, Beale is woeful, our forwards look slow and unfit, especially McCullough, when trying to plug gaps or just spread wide. Norman threw 2 intercepts that lead to tries. A lot of our defensive problems come from a lack of on field organization - someone reading the numbers and pushing the boys around to cover - McC and Norman or Clune should be doing their job there. Plus we have too many weak points to be exploited - dud players and a poor defensive coach.

I agree with most of the last of your post. But that Edwards try was a shocking read by Rav.. the comm called it a missile, I call it a missed missile and it created a huge gap and overlap which let to a try. Basicly was 13 against 12. That is the kind of brainless enthusiasm I am alluding to that spoils Ravs copybook.

He is not the complete winger yet I agree, but he is the one player in our team the opposition backs are very wary of and he is a brilliant finisher. A definite keeper if the judiciary stops picking on him.
